A Wednesday night tradition here on the Big Island. If you are visiting and want to get a feel of local style this is a must attend event. If you're over 55 might bring back memories of the late 1960's for you? Begins at 5 pm and goes late. Parking is limited so come early or be prepared for a... More

Great selection of food vendors! Everything we got was delicious. Everyone friendly, fun happy band. Find and share picnic table space to eat. Paraphernalia available for purchase. I'd go often if I was a local.

The Wednesday night festivities are a must do! The food, the music, the people, and the vendors are amazing! Everything starts at 5:00, but get there early to make sure you get parking and a place to sit down to eat. There is a small parking fee of $3.00, but well worth it. Otherwise you will be parking on the... More

This was recommended to us by 2 of the younger tour guides on the volcano National park tour we took. We loved it! It's clear that this is part of the norm for local life and every Wednesday they bring fun music, incredible food and amazing crafts/merchandise to Uncle Roberts Market. This was also where we stopped to go walk... More

We really enjoyed the atmosphere at Uncle Roberts. We had a really nice lunch and an ivy cold beer for a reasonable price! Peaceful outdoor activity. We also browsed the art gallery, outdoor vendors and shopped at the mini Mart for food and beverages for later in the day. We did not go to the Wednesday evening festival as we... More

Uncle’s Kitchen is a shack located at the end of the road to Kalapana, right next to the volcanic lava beach. There is a bar, picnic tables, and I think you can order food. It looks like locals and tourists go there alike, locals hang out. Free parking. The bar was cash only. Nice respite from the sun and clean... More

We accidentally found out about this evening event (every Wed) from a local character we met in Pahoa. Excellent food (try the pizza, baked in a small brick oven), BBQ, all ethnic cuisines, and bar. They pour a generous glass of wine in a large plastic cup for $6. Lots of hand-made crafts, desserts, hats, etc. Nice setting along the... More

On Wednesday evenings there's a great night market. We loved the Thai food booth with green papaya salad and Thai iced tea. There are a lot of other vendors, a live band and dancing. Lots of fun in an interesting area of the Big Island.

We got here around 5:30 and had to park about a half mile away. There was at least 700 or 800 people there. A large variety of food - very culturally diverse. Mexican, Hawaiian, Russian, East Indian, varieties of Asian, etc. We sampled a huge variety and ended off with baklava and a kona coffee! There was also a number... More
