"White Desert" in Great Rann of Kutch.
Jan 2021
On Monday 25/1/2021) set out on a 900 Kms motorcycle ride to the Great Rann of Kutch. After a overnight stay in a hotel rode the next day and after first visiting "Kalo Dungar" at approximately 1330 hrs reached the "White Desert" in Dhordo .The residential tent city camps were erected on the outer boundary of the main Rann Utsav Festival venue.Beautiful to the human eye.It was a short ride along a narrow central road decked with flag decorations from the main entrance gate to the entrance to the " White Desert".Awesome decor and ambiance with the first sight of the " WHITE DESERT" shocking me with delight .The desert ground adjacent to the cemented Rann Utsav avenue was lined with camels, camel carts, pony's and a few local Kutch artists singing songs and dressings tourists in local Kutch attire for photo shoots.I ventured far from the main venue ground onto the glistening white sand desert and honestly haven't seen a panorama of this magnitude. As the crowd was minuscule felt I was alone in the midst of a white carpet of salt desert that resembled snow.Filmed photo's and video's and later approached a local troupe of Kutchi folk artists who were also offering pony rides for a photo shoot of me sitting on a pony. This was one of the few locales in the World let alone India where salt was the terrain firma and not mud, cement, grass etc.In the evening at dusk it got crowded with tourists on camel and horse rides.Got to fly a kite on the "White Desert". Watched the "SUNSET" as well as the Moon rise. It was a Full moon night and the white desert glistened in the twilight. Have to visit once in your lifetime .

Desert festival @ Kutch
Dec 2019
Mom and I went to Kutch for the whole desert festival experience - tent stay, full moon night white sands trip, shopping, palace visits etc. And what a wonderful trip we had! The tents were luxurious, even the non-AC ones are good since it's winter at the time. The trip to see the desert in the middle of the night, the ethnic meals, the entertainment - all was excellent.

Did some great shopping in Kutch as well

Out of the world experience for us .
Dec 2019
The entire experience of visiting the White Rann was truly memorable. We stayed at the Tent city for a night and visited the Rann from there .
The Tent city stay was brilliant ,from the welcome to the food ( a little more variety could do more good to International travellors ) ,entertainment ,amenities (there are cycles, carts, ziplines ,para motoring ,spa within the Tent city top class .
Every morning and evening there are buses taking the guests to the Rann. After a little ride ,you take camel carts to the centre.
The view is breathtaking ,white all around. You have local artisans there .There is provision to wear Kutchi attire and take photos. We did that.
The best part is the sunset and walking on the salt flat .We infact were a bit doubtful whether the salt flats had formed this year or not.Since we kept hearing that there was unprecedented rainfall in that area. But it was so breathtaking the view around us.So glad we went for a stay at the Tent city for the year end celebrations in 2019 .After sunset instead of taking the bus back to the city ,we took the camel cart and the ride in pitch darkness was thrilling.
Rann Utsav and the White Rann together make a truly winning package for anybody.Highly recommended trip for all ages.

A must see place in India. Visited in the month of Feb 2020. Tents are well maintained, food platter has sufficient options, all site seeing and travel is taken care by the organisers.

White desert is beautiful indeed. We had to take multiple camel rides and peaceful sunrise, sunset and full moon. Just mesmerising!

Stay at Rann utsav in the tent city
Dec 2019 • Couples
We, three couples, taking a trip together after a long time stayed in the Deluxe tents and were happy to spend a couple of nights here. The tents were comfortable, well furnished, air-conditioned, very clean and also had clean toilets with hot and cold water.
We were very well received and directed to our tents quickly and efficiently. The service was polite and respctful and helpful. Though the distance to the restaurant was not short, electric carts were available.
Had a great time visit the white sea and watching the sunrise and sunset.
Very pleasant atmosphere.

If you are not visiting it on full moon it is not that good. We reached just before twilight and that 15 minutes were just amazing. Rest I will it is overhype!!
