I visited Gillette Castle when I was on a contingency force/work assignment in 1988. This was a wonderful find on one of my days off. If you are in the area you really should visit Gillette Castle.

This castle & park is well worth a visit. The castle wasn't open yet (opened the next weekend) but we could walk around it; look in it and explore the grounds. The snack bar was open for lunch. This park is DOG FRIENDLY - yeah!

Lots of places to walk, and picnic. Toured the house years ago, dark but clever inventions throughout. Fun to ride the ferry and walk up to castle.

Took a nice walk around the grounds. The castle is beautiful and has a great view of the Connecticut river.
