The Gillette Castle State Park is a beautiful park, with some great hikes. The Gillette Castle and visitor center are closed right now. They will open back up on Memorial Day. You can still walk around on the grounds. There are places with picnic tables...More

My husband and I visited this park with our dogs on a warm day in February, and it was fantastic! The castle itself is quite interesting to see, and is a definite oddity plopped amidst a small, New England town. Plenty of walking/hiking trails abound...More

Because of the time of year, we couldn’t go in to view the inside. But we could walk around all or the grounds and trails. It is high up on a hill over the Connecticut river. Beautiful sites all around! We took our 4 year...More

This is such a magical place with amazing views of the Connecticut River and really impressive stonework. Although the castle was not open on this Saturday visit, the exterior was available ( AND the restroom !) for hiking and many folks were here to see...More

The ‘castle’ is interesting, but the best is on the outside! The trails through the park are wonderful. Stroll slowly and listen. Lots of birds and critters. At the castle, take in the view of the CT River Valley! Truly spectacular!

What a great adventure, the tour taught me some added history I didn’t know about Mr. Gillette! We walked Dow from the Castle to the river and the ferry crossing. Then back up a different route. Nice leisurely walk even for a disabled person like...More

This is a very cool and uniquely built castle. Was so disappointed that they were closed for tours for the season, since we were there in October. But the castle building was still interesting. The grounds are also overlooking the Ferry that runs there.
