We take our 9-yr. old beagle here on the trail all the time. He just loves it. It is a very nice trail and not too long. You can see the golf course from all parts of it. In the fall, the colors are spectacular. My kids also go sledding here in the winter. The restaurant (Cafe on the Green) is also outstanding - great food and not too pricey. The main dining room also has a fantastic view of the course.

This place compares to private clubs for a lot less money! Bring extra balls as water abounds! Cafe on the Green is awesome too!

Nice course and in very good shape except there were a large number of ball marks on the greens.
Played in an outing and one of the Rangers was rude and condescending saying that we were playing too slowly
(many pictures were taken by the Event Hosts) when we finished in 4 hours and 20 minutes. That's very quick for an outing.
He was unaware that the foursome in front of us was slow, and we passed them.
I will not recommend that one of my preferred charities ever use this course again for future events.
Additionally, I sit on several Board's in the Greater Danbury area and will not recommend this course to any of them for future events.

Price is way down and I can tell you it's because the greens are horrible!! 5 greens were closed and they said only 3 were being worked on. They hired new people to take care of the greens and they should ask for their money back. They need to get the greens back in shape and keep their prices down.

You can't find a nicer course. Well kept with beautiful planting. It is a difficult course with some very long holes and lotsof water to keep you on your toes. They do husstle you along though and the pace is a bit overbearing.

Richter is one of the nicest public courses around, and in general the folks are polite, too. Not an easy course, short, flat, or beginner course; best enjoyed if you already know how to play and can appreciate a nicer course. Some holes penalize even a small mistake; if you're having a bad day Richter could make it a very bad day; but neither is it insanely difficult. It is also a pretty course. However, there can be "other" issues, for example, if you mistakenly golf when there is a tournament going on, play can be very slow. (Tho, I suppose this is true of many courses; I'm not sure how many rangers Richter has to keep folks moving along, but they could use more. One kind of "expects" players to know the etiquette on a nicer course (???)
If you already know how to play the game and can be patient when (sometimes) play is slow or there are other annoying issues; highly recommended.

I’ve been a Danbury resident now for 7 years. This course is a wonderful design with some tought holes, great views and is in decent shape.
The condition is quite good given the topography, but I must say this: don’t get in the way of “the owners” (ie the guys who play there every day and are part of the clique). I was a single and was waiting on every shot (I caught up to a small outing-I get that...it’s slow)
Long story short I was hit into by this six man group on the 12th hole (blind approach) No one yelled ‘FORE’ as etiquette dictates and the ball landed 8 feet behind me on the green with a loud thump. I was pissed seeing how it could’ve hit me in the head. No one apologized...nothing. Adding insult to injury, the head pro came out and joined them for one hole - now a sevensome (the 13th - par 3) and then led them off through a cart trail back to the clubhouse.
Therefore I give this a 3 because even though it’s a nice track:
1)The kid at the desk should’ve told me I’d run into an outing.
2)I guess some Danbury golfers are rude classes p****s
3)the head pro needs to have a clinic on common golf course etiquette.

Richter Park is one of the top Courses in New England and is so every year.
18 holes that run along side and over water in an awesome landscape.Beautiful any time of year but especially beautiful in the fall with its colorful foliage.
There is a proshop and restaurant as well.
The course is challenging but fun to play.

For a resident it's a good price and in OK condition. If I want to invite a friend from out of town it's "way" too expensive. We end up in Ridgefield, same kind of course and better kept and $32 for a senior walking even for out of town people!!!
