On an unseasonably warm Spring day, we drove up to the Stone Wall Dairy Farm store on the recommendation of a local.

It's a sleepy little spot off the beaten track that seems frozen in time. You walk through the door to the store and it's as though you're transported back to a simpler time. There's a freezer chest filled with packaged beef, chicken and lamb. There's a refrigerator stocked with raw milk sold by the half gallon or the gallon, fresh colorful eggs of various sizes sold by the dozen, a variety of choices of local honey in glass jars and in the Summer and Autumn, we're told, there are fresh fruits and vegetables for sale as well.

We wandered into the adjacent area where the cows were housed in their stalls. They seemed like a happy bunch of animals and we approached a young one who allowed us to pet her and seemed eager to nudge and lick us. My kids were thrilled!

It is a clean farm and we had a delightful experience.

The fields just beyond the farm store are home to sheep and a few lamb and there's an area for chickens where several varieties of chickens roam. The rolling hills that comprise the farm seem well tended.

A farm worker greeted us and was very helpful but immediately explained that the store is run on an honor system where a customer takes the products they want and they leave money for what they've taken in a locked box on the wall.

No one objected as we walked around the premises, taking in the views and watching the animals.

If you're in the Kent/Cornwall/New Milford CT area, I highly recommend a stop over at the Stone Wall Dairy Farm store for some fresh raw milk, eggs, honey, beef, chicken, and produce~and a walk around a lovely working farm.

We have been coming here for years. Fresh milk, eggs, beef raised responsibly and in season lots of fresh fare from the garden on premises.
