A unique movie theater
Feb 2020
This is my favorite movie theater because of its history and the overall ambiance. Note; the two theaters themselves are nothing special. They're rather small and the seats are old but comfortable. But their popcorn is freshly popped with your choice of many condiments to put on it. There are homemade deserts, coffee, water and the regular movie theater candy.

Perfect size, and always a welcome. We couldn't be more pleased to have this wonderful theater, with such great taste in films, so v close to home.

Over priced
Aug 2019 • Solo
Decided I would catch a Saturday 1:00 matinee only to find that they charge full price ($12) - only have matinee pricing on Wednesday - really?? I’m used to cinemas like Bethel which have matinee pricing every day for shows before 4:00. Add to it a large popcorn which is the size of a small in most other places and I will never go back to this venue. I can not recommend this theater and will actively discourage people who ask me about it in the future.

The OldestContinuous Running Cinema in Connecticut
Dec 2017
Jump back to a country cinema in the 30's and 40's . Small, intimate and in winter wear warm clothes. Exhibit not run of the mill Hollywood blockbusters but more thoughtful, thinking persons film far. Many movies not shown at conventional mall Maxi- Plexes. Fresh popcorn with real butter so take your cholestrol statins before you visit. Visit next door 2 hours before the show for best ribs. Don't bother ordering their Mexi Fare. Stick with the ribs.

Fun small local cinema
Dec 2017
It's a small town cinema with all the charm. Hey, Danial Day-Lewis visited this cinema when they showed Lincoln. Not many theaters can brag about that!

It's cute, but

With small screens and uncomfortable seating, it is outrageous that they charge $12 for a matinee! What would be quaint, if mildly inconvenient (like parking difficulties, slow service, etc.), becomes annoying when paying such a high price. At the very least, a senior discount would be nice. I suppose it isn't necessary in Litchfield but we are not ALL wealthy in this area.

a great quaint movie house

We go to the cinema quite often as it is an art cinema and plays an eclectic array
of films not seen in the run of the mill theater.

Putting on a Show in a Barn
Jul 2017 • Couples
This is the opposite of a multiplex theatre. It's old, it's small, has good sound, not the largest screen, and seats that could be more comfortable.

That said it's a more intimate theatre experience. while not necessarily best suited to modern, hi-tech blockbusters the older clientele makes it a place for more cerebral offerings.

The making lot it never big enough and arrangements have been made for nearby overflow lots.

All in all an interesting experience.

The oldest running cinema since 1927! Great movies off the beaten path. Old fashioned and you'll love it!
