- Steven WDenver, Colorado44 contributionsPerfect from Start to FinishThe snowmobile tour was a terrific experience. The snowmobiles were in excellent condition. The process was easy - from booking to signing waivers to checkin to explaining the gear needed. Regarding the gear, they provide helmets, and have one-piece snow suits available, if you wish, for a modest rental fee ($10, I think). I wore my ski pants, down jacket and neck gaiter and was very comfortable. Our guide, Snowmobile Steve, gave a clear safety explanation and demo on how the snowmobile works. It made it very easy and comfortable to get on and confidently operate the snowmobile. And then, most importantly, we had a blast going through the forest. Snowmobile Steve led us through a variety of terrain, watched over us to make sure everyone was doing well, and stopped for pictures in both forest meadows and beautiful mountain views. I encourage you to try out the snowmobile adventure, and hope you get lucky enough to get Snowmobile Steve as your guide.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 December 2023
- Em H1 contributionSnowmobile SteveWhat a great experience! Our family travelled from Iowa & booked a snowmobile tour last minute. The 5 of us rented 3 machines, and everyone had a blast. We didn’t have any prior experience, but Steve gave good instructions and assured us we would catch on since we’ve driven four wheelers in the past. It was all smooth sailing. Steve was great at checking in on us, stopping for a few photos, education about the area, and getting us on some great trails. We were able to log about 25 miles in 2 hours. The brand new machines were great, with a very comfy passenger seat, and the unexpected bonus of heated handles for driver and passenger. Highly recommend this relaxing ride through the mountains.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 December 2023
- John S1 contributionBest Family Bucket List Experience. Our first time driving Snowmobiles. The staff at Winter Park were great! All the way around. Zac, our guide, was patient with us newbies. He also knew some of the history of the area, which made the experience informative as well as fun. We saved this for our last day of our ski vacation. Hands down, my daughters thought this was the best part of our vacation.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 December 2023
- GeorgeTopeka, Kansas4 contributionsJust Awesome! Worth It!There were 8 in our group. It was just awesome. The views were incredible. We were looking down on Winter Park and north along Continental Divide for miles. It was great for our adrenaline junkies and the more cautious in our group. The staff was excellent. Most of our group had never ridden before but all said they wanted to again when we got back. Highly recommend!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 December 2023
- j D1 contributionOne in a lifetime, must do. I would not bring little kids. This is a bucket list for sure. Went with husband and two kids. This is what I call adventure. Not for people with faint heart. Our guide Mike did a great job on checking with us. He took us to a path amazing but with steep slope. Worth it , view was amazing. This one is what you call bucket list check. Make it sure you have right gear, extremely cold in the top and when the sun goes down. For kids if they will play in the snow make it sure snow won't get inside their shoes. Snow on the top can get knee high for little kids.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 January 2024
- Tiquette W1 contributionThe Mile High ExpeditionAbsolutely amazing. I am not the most adventurous person! I enjoyed the snowmobiling at Winter Park. Snowmobile Steve is the best!!! Very informative with traveling the trail! Also shared interesting facts about the area during the tour. My initial thought in the beginning of the ride was…yikes! After getting used to the turns and bumps…I am now thinking about my next visit. I highly recommend Grand Adventures and Snowmobile Steve!!!Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 February 2024
- PatsyBoulangerLafayette, Louisiana119 contributionsGreat staff, experience, and sceneryTop notch company! The snowmobiles were in great mechanical condition, allowing us to feel comfortable going out on our own. The staff was so accommodating with any needs that we had or wanted. We only needed helmets for our trip, and they had a great selection to fit everyone. We did the 9:30 am self-guided tour, which was great. Not many other snowmobiles on the path at that time, so you had space to ride, make stops, and enjoy the scenery.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 February 2024
- Jaclyn L60 contributionsSuper Fun!Absolutely a GREAT Time!! Grand adventures staff and tour guide were a blast. The equipment and trails seemed safe, but the experience was a fun dose of adrenaline. It was 75 degrees in the valley and 40 degrees when we reached the top of the Continental Divide during our trip in August 2023. Enjoyed the fresh crisp air along with the beautiful views in all directions on the journey.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 23 March 2024

I went with my wife and brother in law for our first snow mobile experience. For me, the experience was fine, but my Brother in law had some difficulty with his machine and instead of checking the machine and helping him get ready, the guide just suggested it’s better just to stay back because he didn’t want to hold the ground up. My brother in law felt he was telling him that he should just stay back, thinking he was going to get a refund back. Unfortunately after the tour was done, I called to get a refund and the company stated the the tour guide made no specific comments that he should stay back and that he chose to stay back. They basically refused to listen that he was suggested to stay back for the good of the group but they kept saying he made tbt decision himself and did not give a refund. Why would anyone just wanna forfeit $160.00 and wait 3 hours for the group to get done just like that, they need to consider that. The guide basically just waited 2-3 minutes and told him it’s bests to stay back. They should have helped him get going and at least give him a refund back

Well to start off the ride was nice. But little did we know that we were being set up to pay for damages we did not see on the machines. Our guide "Henry" if that's his real name had the most bloodshot eyes as if he had been drinking or possibly high. Of course in CO why wouldn't he be high but who the hell wants that around their children on a family ride. So they start you off asking you to inspect the machines and tell you don't worry about scratches. Well, when i tell you that you better take about 30 minutes inspecting the s*** out of these things i mean it. We didn't notice a crack in the tail light of one and a scratch on the front bar of another but they knew it was there. High Henry knew exactly what machines had damage and we wondered why he lined us up in the order he did till we got back to the starting point. We weren't off the machines for 1 minute walking back to turn in our gear when he hollered for the riders of those 2 machines to come back and explain the damage. There was no contesting it because we didnt notice the damage before we left but they made me pay for it anyway. Henry even yelled at my wife and said that if we keep lying that the price would keep going up. Who the f*** runs a business like that?!! Well, just be warned if you take this tour, don't have to worry about me anymore on it though. I just wish the owner had the balls to contact me to apologize for Henry's behavior and hear my side of the story. He can reach me at cdaigl1@gmail.com

We had the pleasure of riding the Continental Divide with Grand Adventures. The snowmobiles were brand new and trails were perfectly groomed for a very enjoyable two-hour tour. Our Guide, Ryan, was very professional and personable while providing us a fun and safe trip. I highly recommend this affordable snowmobile tour to anyone that wants to experience the Rockies on a snowmobile.

The staff is great, the machines are top notch, the trails are well-groomed and the views are fantastic. We've made it a yearly Xmas Eve family tradition 3 years in a row now and have no plans on stopping. For 2019 we had Keith, and he was great under the circumstances (one guest froze in a panic halfway through the tour and was nearly incapable of continuing on out of fear of her machine and the terrain)...
Which leads me to....
Snowmobiles are big machines and it looks easy in pictures and videos. Actually, it really is pretty easy, however, if you've never operated one it can be a little overwhelming at first. Steering is different and the sensation of balance is strange. If you are too intimidated to keep up with everyone you can hold up the entire tour group and put yourself in danger and the level of fun will be reduced for everyone involved. Also, it gets freaking cold out there sometimes. Be prepared with the proper gear - many layers, good gloves and boots. There is no returning to base once you take off and the entire tour is over 2 hours long. Think two or three times before you book this out of respect for the rest of the group, the guide and your party.
The terrain is not treacherous by any means provided you stay on the groomed trail.
• The trails are wide enough to safely accommodate 2-way traffic with *plenty* of space.
• You will not climb or descend any hills that are inherently dangerous.
• There are standard traffic signs everywhere to control the various groups, notifying you of cross traffic, areas to slow down, stop signs, etc.
• You will rarely get above 20 mph unless everyone in your group is experienced, and I haven't seen that in the last 3 years I've been.
So go and enjoy yourself but make sure this is the right thing for you. Be prepared for to be cold and to operate large machinery!

We arrived 2 hours early because we anticipated horrible traffic (like the day before with skiing). We checked in and decided to walk to get food. We were told we could take our time because we had completed our paper work, had our gear and we had a private tour (no one to wait on or hold us up). The young man who called us to tell us it was nearing our time, was very rude on the phone (this was the same young man mentioned later with the phone).
It was a beautiful day to go snowmobiling. We were seeking adventure. We had a pretty laid back tour. It wasn't "Bad" just boring. What would've made it fun was asking us what we were seeking. We paid $200 each ($800 in total plus tax and fees) for a private 2 hour tour. It wasn't a 2 hour tour seeing that we sent 45 min getting there and checking the machines. We stopped once for a photo opp then hopped back on and kept riding. Nothing grand about our adventure at all. After it ended, it was heavily suggested that we tip. When we returned the young man behind the counter was having an argument with a costumer. He was yelling and then hung up the phone. He continued the loud conversation with his co-worker despite the presence of other customers. I politely told him that I felt like the conversation he had would have been best had behind closed doors. It was unprofessional and plain out rude. He just looked at me and shook his head. This was my second time going to Grand Adventures. If I was to return, I would not book a tour. I would go off on our own.

Keith was a blast... “stay on the trail” ... we had so much fun. Coming from Florida we were nervous on how we would drive in the snow. We have numerous ATVs and Jetski’s at home, Keith explained the machines and how they would drive, very easy to drive/ride. We had some slow people in our group which made it not so Enjoyable because we were always trying to figure out where they were. He made some humorous but professional comments which always gave us a laugh to make the situation better. We will def come back and bring the kids next time!!

Booked this for myself and my son since he was unable to ski this trip due to a healing broken foot. Although tour started almost an hour late due to a rather unruly late arrival to the group, that really was my only complaint. Matt S did an awesome job trying to keep the highly distractable members of the group on task and operate things safely. Even with that, he recognized that a lot of our group had more experience , were a bit more adventurous and made sure we had a great experience. He also made sure not to short us on drive time even with the late start( was out there for 3 hours). This made my son's day and vacation! He has a school permit and had an awesome time driving on his own! The scenery was awesome, trails were fun, high energy tour guide and very knowledgable. Great way to spend the 1st day of 2020! Thanks again Matt!

We booked a guided snowmobile four for 29 March. When booked, we were told THEY may have to cancel due to insufficient snow. Due to the coronavirus, I had to cancel the reservation. This snowmobiling was for my kids/grandkids who are military and in Ohio. They have been ORDERED to not fly domestically for 30 days. While I understand there is a 15% cancelation policy, this is a unique situation that gives us NO choice. I find it interesting that Winter Park has offered a 100% refund, counter to their original cancelation policy, given the unique circumstances of the coronavirus. Apparently this business lacks the ethics and integrity and is fully self-absorbed. Lesson learned for me and hopefully for other military members who are looking to snowmobile in Winter Park!

We had an incredible time snowmobiling with our amazing guide, Amanda. This was not my first time on a snowmobile, but it was a first for several on the tour and Amanda set a good pace for the group. Amanda has a really upbeat personality and really made the tour special. She was patient with a late start from some of the group that arrived unprepared and needed to rent some clothes from the shop and she made sure we all still got our full tour and had a great experience. She gave us plenty of time to stop and check out awesome views - she even spotted a moose in the distance in time for us all to stop and have a look and take pictures if we wanted! if you have time while your in Fraser/WP and want to have an incredible and exciting snowmobile experience, this is where you want to book your tour!

I would like to go snowmobiling and my 4.5 son meets the min age requirement. Does anyone know if the seat he will be in with me has straps?(to strap him in), I couldn't tell from the photos.

There were no straps but my 4 year old nephew was able to hold on to the handles just fine

I am looking for advice from anyone that has done the Unguided 4 1/2 hour Winter Park Snowmobile Tour. 2 of us are very comfortable on Snowmobiles and 2 of us have not driven snowmobiles, but are seasoned ATV operators. Do you recommend the unguided over the 2 hour guided continental divide tour?
Written 10 February 2020
You should be fine. Haven't done the unguided tour but will in December. If you've got powersports experience, then you shouldn't be intimidated by the snowmobiles. Steering and braking is a little different but the leaning is about the same as with ATVs.
If you're experienced then you'll appreciate not being stuck with a group of newbs if you take the unguided tour. There's always someone with zero experience who the entire group has to wait for if you do the guided tour, so a lot of your two hour trip is spent waiting for people to catch up or to receive some extra guidance.
Remember to wear many layers!

I will be there in Jan with 16 year old son; we want to tour, but not sure if we should do which one. I have thought the CD trip would be the way to go, but I have ridden several times prior; my son has never driven a sled.
Any thoughts which way to go.

We just came back and did the CD tour and it was amazing. My 17 year old daughter drove a snowmobile with no problem. The guide was great and kept her close to him. I highly recommend the CD snowmobiling tour.

Does anyone know the best/ cheap way from Denver (city) to get there without having to rent a car? I would like to make it a day trip.
Written 25 March 2018
The 500-passenger Winter Park Express Amtrak train will leave Denver's Union Station at 7 a.m., arrives at the resort around 9 a.m., leaves 4:30 p.m. and returns to Denver at 6:40 p.m. Adult tickets start at $39 each way and children ages 2-12 ride for half price with a ticketed adult.
And you avoid any delays caused by winter weather on I-70. But, you also need to consider costs to get to your destination in Winter Park. Everything is not within walking distance from the train.

We will be traveling to Winter Park next week and have been looking for activities for my toddler ( 2.5 yrs) and my older daughter (14) Are toddlers allowed to ride with their parents ? Can my daughter ride alone ?
Written 17 December 2017
The minimum age to ride as a passenger is 4 years old. Minimum age to drive on a guided tour is 15 with a valid learners permit (legal guardian or parent must be on the tour). Anyone under 18 is not allowed to carry a passenger. They tyically ask to see a license for anyone that looks under 25 years old. There is a day care at the resort for your 2 year old, and your 14 year old could ride as a passenger.

Hi. First, are these kid-friendly ages 9 and 11 and if so; which tour would yo recommend for a family? Thank you1
Written 3 February 2017
Hi. All of our 1 and 2 hour tour options are kid friendly. Our shortest option is our 1 hour tour, or we also have our 2 hour Trailblazer or Continental Divide Tour. The 1 hour and 2 hour Trailblazer tours run Thur to Sun each week and the Continental Divide Tour runs 7 days a week. Hope that helps and if you have any more questions feel free to give us a call at 970-726-9247. Thanks! Ryan

I see the Winter Park Trailblazer (2hr) and Continental Divide (2hr) tours are both popular. Any recommendations on one vs. the other? Better views?
Written 19 December 2016
Hi! Both are good options. In terms of views on a good weather day the continental divide tour gets up higher on the mountain and has great views out into the valley. The trailblazer tour rides the opposite side of the valley and has awesome views out to the divide and the bigger peaks. The trailblazer tour is also smaller groups which is nice. Both are a great time!
Written 19 December 2016
Hi....there are a lot of options and it really depends on budget and duration. Also, will you have a vehicle while you are here or will you need to rely upon the public transportation. Happy to give you some suggestions, but if you could help narrow things down for me that will help a lot. Thanks!

Are there helmets and goggles for rent? How much each? Thank you!
Written 8 February 2016
They sell the goggles for $20 if I remember correctly. The boot, suit, and helmet rental is included in the fee for the tour. Very much worth it. They also have the gloves that you can buy, which if you don't have a thick pair of gloves, I would highly recommend buying a pair. Even with the hand warmers on the snowmobile, the wind blowing against your hands get a little cold.

How was the 2 hour ride? Trying to decide between 2 and 3 hour guided tours. Also, recommended time of day? We're thinking a few hours morning ski time and then a snow mobile ride in afternoon. Thoughts? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
