If you are in Vail outside of Winter I would recommend a visit here. The Ford family were great promoters of Vail, and this garden was quite excellent for a warm September day visit. You can spend an hour here easily if you like plants.

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens were designed so that as you are enveloped in one, you can't really know what is around the next turn. But they were all spectacular. The statuary, sculpture, & elements of nature were blended seamlessly. I took each scene in...More

So good we went twice. We always stop at the gardens and the park next to it while headed up the western slope. It is meticulously maintained and beautiful. Our favorite thing to do in Vail.

Our morning spent at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens was our favorite time in Vail. The garden setting is beautiful and is also free. Donations are welcomed.

We visited early on a Saturday morning and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Everything was beautifully maintained and there were labels on nearly every plant. The many pathways, levels, multiple waterfalls, and varied gardens were a pleasure to experience.

The thoughtful design and pathways through the varied garden areas were easily walked. There are water features in abundance and lovely, well considered benches placed to enjoy the beauty of the gardens accompanied by the sound of water. Very peaceful. There's no fee for admission...More

The Garden are not large, but if you are looking for unique Alpine plants, this, and the Botanical gardens in Steamboat Springs, are terrific places to visit. A really nice layout, and setting along the creek. If in Vail, and tired of shopping at overpriced...More

I agree with those who answered one hour. We did not visit with kids, but we spent about an hour in the park. I did not read every word of the interesting signs, but read enough to get the gist of them. The gift shop is... More
