There were several spots for pullover in order to have a good photos of the valley below but I dare not park there, too close to the cliff and no guard rails. I drove all the way up till you reach the scenic stop point at the top - Independence Pass. Very beautiful view on a clear day. On the... More

Independence Pass is a great place to do a little hiking. It also affords nice views of the mountains and sunset. There are restrooms at the spacious parking lot.

Approached Independence Pass from Twin Lakes heading towards Aspen. Fall colors were at peak along with some snow-capped mountains. The trip would be well worth it regardless of this!

We crossed the pass both ways. Aspen trees are in full color and look luminescent. Words simply can't describe the beauty. The road is in good shape and safe at a reasonable speed.

This is an amazing stop for those visiting Aspen and surrounds. We got there right on sunset which made it a beautiful experience. At 12,095 feet the views are extraordinary!

If you're coming from Vail to Aspen I would suggest this route during the summer as there are some fantastic views along the way especially during the fall and September when I ask things are changing

When we leave Mt Elbert Lodge, we often go over to Aspen (not stopping) to lodging at Snowmass or near Redstone.

Was awesome! Great views were on our way to scotish festival in snowmass! Great hiking, waterfalls, camping, music, activities for entire family. There was also mountain biking places to rent bikes or bring your own. It was a summer trip. Also lots to do in the winter during ski season. Being a colorado native I would highly recommend traveling to... More

This was an amazing drive and a little spooky at times. The summit type thing was really cold, our truck said it was 51 in August and with the wind chill it felt like 40. The views were amazing. Beautiful and breath taking. We will drive this next time we're in Colorado.
