Went to Columbia Pictures Aquaverse on opening day and it was terrible!

When you go to a place on opening day you expect some problems but not in everything. Let's start with the entrance, I purchased tickets online and was told I'd just have to scan the QR code and in we go...wrong!! There was no designated area for those with advance tickets, had to wait in line and once at the window the staff didn't know what to do. Was at the window for 30 minutes while staff made phone call after phone call asking how to work the scanner, how to work the machine, how to print wrist bands. Terrible terrible service. How can you have people working the check in if they aren't trained or don't know what to do, wanted almost an hour just trying to get inside because of their incompetence!

Once inside you were trapped, there was no running back out to your car for forgotten hats/sunscreen, etc. Unlike most watermarks they did not offer a staff to return back inside, if you went to your car you have to.purchase a new ticket ( which prices were crazy 1,560 baht per adult, 1360 baht per child, lockers 300 baht, cabanas 2000 baht)
The park itself is actually not that big once inside. Only about 10 waterside and 2 weren't even in operation, the wave pool had a huge movie screen which could have been awesome except they were playing rated R movies with children in the pool, with all the movies attached to the park like Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Emoji Movie, etc. they opted to play Bad Boys instead, even my 11 year old was shocked to see so much profanity in display. The rides were ok but definitely not worth the prices paid.
Moving on to concessions: there weren't really any, in a park that size there was one drink station and kne food station, people waited in lines for am hour or more just to be told once finally at the front to wait because the one register they had stopped working...this happened at both stations. By the way temperatures were in the 90's, imagine waiting in line for water just to be denied a sla e because the register stopped working, not a pleasant experience at all.

Definitely will not return, and wouldn't recommend anyone going unless you like wasting money to be dehydrated all day.
Find a pool to hang out in instead!

We knew going in that this was not a brand new water park — it was a refurbished Cartoon Network park. That said, they’ve been “refurbishing” for 2+ years. I expected more. I expected that in 2+ years they would make sure that all the slides worked. I expected that in 2+ years they would make sure there were no weeds growing through the pavement everywhere. I expected that in 2+ years they would have clean water in the pools (not cloudy itchy water). They need more concessions and it was ridiculous that you had to wait on one line for food for 45 min only to find out that if you want something to drink with your burger you need to now go wait on another line to buy a water (another 30 minutes) If this was Sony’s test case for possibly doing more theme parks, I’d say they should save their money — they have no chance of catching up with Uni***. We left early.

Honestly, one of the most enjoyable waterparks I've been to. The collection of slides have a great variety from family rafts to that crazy death drop. Was as much fun as Yaz in Dubai and was so much more enjoyable than the Chimelong in China. The scale and mix of the attractions really feels like a Great Wolf lodge with a huge wave pool and a great lazy river. The theming is super fun with great characters and effects in the water playzone. Worth mentioning is how clean the water and pools are. Definitely a great addition to your vacation.

The play ground slide area is really big with great slides. The place and the rides are great, but the service is so slow. Queue for 20 minutes to get in even with all booths open and having prepaid for tickets. Service for food is terrible, even though the food was good when after 20 minutes of queuing and 40 waiting we finally got it. That really put a dampener on the day, having to wait so long for food.

We visited with friends in January 2024. Compared to Ramayana, it is much more expensive and the slides are worse. It takes a very long time to climb up each hill. After each slide, you received injuries: sometimes there was a bloody mark on your back, sometimes you hit your head, sometimes with your elbow, sometimes with your legs. There are practically no hills that you can go through without being there, especially if you are above 180. Better go to Ramayana.

Went the day after opening day. I was expecting a few glitches but there were many.

We purchased online tickets and thought this would save us time. Wrong!! We were at the counter for about 45 minutes trying to get our wristbands and they had no idea what they were doing.

The food options were limited and they only have Coca-Cola products. The lines were a nightmare and the staff had no idea how to work the computers. You have to go to cashier first to put money on your wristband but nobody told us. One poor lady waited in line for 45 minutes and when she got to front was told she couldn't buy anything. They need to put up more signage so people know this. They also need much more variety of food and drinks.

The wave pool is surrounded by speakers and they blast the movie or music all day long. IT IS WAY TOO LOUD. TURN IT DOWN!!!! We had to watch the horrible Ghostbusters 2 movie all day long as our cabana was right next to the wave pool. Some of it is not appropriate for young children.

The section with the big waterslides for kids over 120 cm has some issues too. They painted the stairs with BLACK paint so if it is sunny it is almost impossible to walk on without burning your feet!!! Please paint it another color or put an awning over the areas that need shade. Most of the slides require 2 riders so if your child is by themself then parents need to go too. It is over 200 steps to the top and quite tiring to climb the stairs over and over. They also need some more signage showing which way to go for each slide as it was confusing.

The slide section for kids under 120 cm is probably the best thing about this park. There are many slides and it is bigger than other parks I have seen. They do need to add more chairs and seating around this area as they were all taken very quickly.

The park also needs way more SHADE. Plant some trees or install some awnings please.

Overall this place was disappointing but it has the potential to be much better if they train the staff properly and make a few changes.

Context: Aussie couple, our fourth trip to Thailand but our first time to Pattaya. I love Bangkok but feeling so-so about the whole Pattaya experience so far. Thailand isn’t as cheap as it used to be.

So now the review: it starts with the grab driver taking you to the park once they realise where you are going: “do you have ticket yet? I can get you a good discount”. Eyes roll.

Chaos upon arrival as I get bag and weight checked but my partner of similar size does not.

Weight is an issue at this park: we checked in advance about weight limits and the website indicates a limit of 120kg. I’ve worked hard to lose weight recently and am not embarrassed to say my current weight is 110kg. But today on the scales at THIS park though: suddenly I’m fat-shamed back to 119kg! THEN the “helpful lady” who weighed me showed me a sign telling me what rides I could and couldn’t use, magically (i.e. with a texta marker) most rides had changed to less than 120kg limit. Then she took a PHOTO of me and this sign as my “contract” that I acknowledge what I can and can’t do once inside. By this time my partner had already entered the park, looking back at me wondering what the problem was, but no way out.

So i’m inside and doing the best I can, some rides we are allowed on, some not. Some rides we make the mistake to not get a token first or whatever, not that there’s any clear instructions- all total chaos.

By the way, when the attendants keep yelling “2!” at you, I’m pretty sure it means cross your feet. I think. Even in the lazy river.

Fast-forward to later in the day when I go to use a slide where the limit (according to the texta marker, remember!) is still 120kg. The ride attendant here suddenly insists the weight limit is 100kg and I’m not allowed to go.

There’s about 10 rides in total, I think I did 3 slides in total plus the lazy river. Everything seems rather cheap and the rides not the safest compared to other parks. Staff generally clueless and insufficient English skills so don’t count on them to save your kid if it’s about to drown.

The whole park generally is a fairly chaotic experience. Don’t bother trying to work out the signs telling you what tubes are for what ride and where to collect the tube and where to go to ride etc. Instead just grab a tube and go. There’s one ghostbuster tower on the LH side of the park, one jumanji tower in the back. Just let the staff tell you the rest (no need to/please don’t try to think for yourself!) or more likely so, they won’t tell but then tell you off for not following some made up “rules” that are not specified anywhere and/or are actually different in writing from what gets “enforced”.

Only exception/advice is to be prepared for the big ghostbuster ride which is the only real worthwhile slide in the entire park. First it opens at 11.40 or 12.00 or 1.00 depending on which sign you choose to believe. This is a big multi-seater tube/boat, maximum weight 200kg for the total tube/boat, and they check thoroughly. Thus: 1) long line at the station, 2) then weight check, 3) then trying to make a full boat (to maximise capacity per boat, which makes sense), 4) then you get a tag to wear around your neck, 5) then YOU as the guest need to take your giant tube/boat to another part of the park where an attendant takes it and sends it up the tower on a mechanism, 6) then you climb the tower, 7) give your tag to the attendant then you can finally ride. Only 7 overly complicated steps to ride fun fun fun! NOTE: don’t miss any steps, and don’t try to do it in any other order, or else chaos ensues!

It's hard to find anything worthwhile to say about the refurbished park. A few of the slides were interesting - it ends there. The park charged full price for not-ready-for-full opening experience. Bought tickets online and still was required to queue at the ticket counter with others who had not purchased tickets to pick up wrist bands but was unable to top up the wrist bands with money - which inside the park all transactions had to done using the wrist band. Once inside at the top up cashiers you could not use credit card to top up as the POS was not set up. It was cash only and there were no ATM's in the park - you had to exit to use one. Food service was overpriced, poorly organized, run by untrained staff and really poor quality. We had to wait for approximately 1 hour in line to order and when food came it was delivered opposing pickup windows, there are no utensils, no napkins and no sauce, the beverages need to be ordered from a completely separate area and that is another 20 min line just to order. Some bizarre examples was a bar with empty liquor bottles that does not serve drink but has only 2 types of beer only to be informed that they had run out at 11 am in the morning, ordered 4 single scoop gelato cones but told single scoop is sold out we could only get 2 scoop bear in mind this is hand packed ice cream, pizza that the cheese is un-melted and chicken wings that looked like something you would slop to pigs. The main area with lounge chairs the lighting poles around the water had the service plates unscrewed with exposed wiring, a few of the things inside the water area had the protective fiberglass hanging off and not secured, the miniature golf area charged for a golf ball but there was cashier or attendant, the surf flow was monopolized by the park owners sons (btw the flow attendants were quite nice and the highlight of the park). We are big fans of amusement parks and our expectation was that Columbia branded park was going to compete with Universal but frankly speaking not only does it not live up to that expectation it's not even competition for lesser non-branded water parks in Thailand or SE Asia
