We wanted a hike with easy access and this is accessible right on the edge of town. It's fairly steep and with the altitude, it was a bit of a slow climb (we did the hike with our kiddos). The views of Telluride and the...More

This is a great trail but STEEP and not gradual. It's a great trail though but make sure you are adjusted to the altitude before starting this one. I was not as adjusted as I needed to be which made it harder. The guidebooks call...More

Jud wanted a nice, short hike accessible from Telluride. This meant that the trail had to be steep from both ends. The rewards are plenty. Do this trail in the morning when there is plenty of shade.

S.O. And I had a free morning before a rehearsal dinner so we decided to take an estimated 3 hour hike on this trail. The first 1/3 was definitely the modest difficult - not necessarily because of the terrain but because of the elevation gain...More

One trailhead is at the dead end of N. Aspen Street. We went clockwise around the loop. It's a steady climb and somewhat taxing even for us who live at altitude but its worth it for the views. Most of the hike is shaded which...More

This hike took a little longer than expected but it did not disappoint. The first mile up is a bit challenging and you are hiking through thick forest but when you reach the top it's all worth it. The views of Telluride and surrounding mountains...More

Great trail. Would love to snowshoe it in the winter or hike it in the summer but I went at an unfortunate time. Parts of the trail were snow covered. Other parts were wet and muddy. Really made it a slog. Given better conditions, this...More

If you are visiting T-ride from low altitude, this may be too much of a huff and puff for you. It starts pretty steep, but gets better higher up, so if you can do it in segments, with short breaks in between, you'll be rewarded...More

I love uphill hikes to keep me warm in the snow. Not overly difficult but you should be fairly fit. The views were amazing! Heart pumping uphill with lots of fun downhill to bring you back to town.

On our first full day in Telluride we considered trails of three, five, and seven miles described in the hiking brochure and decided to do the shortest one—the three-mile Judd Wiebe Trail. From downtown we walked uphill three to four blocks, stopping several times to...More

We started hiking it clockwise, in the winter, so when we got to deep snow, it became a out and back, not a loop for us. The only possible difference I can imagine is that the intersection of the trail and Tomboy Road is... More

I have only seen a few dogs on Jud Wiebe but the best hike for dogs would be the Bear Creek Trail. There's several areas where they can get wet crossing streams. The trail is wide and should be easy on their feet. Another... More

Good question, don't know the answer, though.
