Overview
More
The Yampa River Core Trail is a seven mile, non-motorized multi-use trail that follows the meandering Yampa River from Dougherty Road through downtown Steamboat Springs to Bear River Park. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town. Additionally, there are many parks and playgrounds and more miles of trail that can be accessed off of the Core Trail.

We rented bikes and rode this trail in the afternoon. Most of it goes along the river. The trail is mostly flat and well-maintained. We stopped at the Botanic Garden along the way.

This is a long trail that runs along the river thru town. We did see a few birds and some running water. Hard to walk too far as parts were a little icy or had too much snow on it. Prob very enjoyable without snow.

This path is a nice path for an easy stroll along the water. It is paved so is used for biking and walking, but is good for strollers. Pretty flat though a few little hills.

Walked this trail in August. Very hot in places, and wish it was closer to the river. But beautiful foliage, and quaint hummingbird sanctuary along the trail. Beautiful gardens to stroll at the end, but a lot of walking in the heat. Wish we had...More

Being older, we love the walk and long as you watch out for all of the bikes, Rollerblades, etc. Fun watching all the kids tubing in the river during summer.

Yes. Much of it is cleared. I wore YakTrax when I ran it, though.

We rented from Ski Haus. Easy access to the trail and not far from the Botanical Gardens. Be sure to use the coupon found in the Steamboat Guide. Available for free in many stores, hotels and fast food places.
