Summer visit. Quaint downtown area, lots of shops mostly upscale. Mix of very wealthy clientele and open pot smoking over-teens. Not really as varied an offering of window shopping and food options as you'd expect - like a really scaled back Lake Placid.

This is my fav CO ski resort. Not too crowded. Great snow!!! Beautiful views. Nearby places to stay and board pets. Nice people. Great place for kids. We've been here 4-5 times in the last 4 years and always love it.

This is our favorite ski resort for our whole family. We have 4 kids; 2 who love the ski school and two who ski on their own. It has a variety of terrain for every ski level. The snow is amazing and there are a...More

We have been visiting for 25+ years. We have seen many changes. We love Steamboat. We love the attitude of all the visitors. But, we would love if they finally rebuild Ski Time Square. Wow, that had the most amazing shops and restaurants and we...More

It was actually April of 2016 when I visited Steamboat. I'm just catching up on some reviews. I went skiing there with a dear friend and resident of Steamboat. It was starting to get a little spring-like in the conditions but the slopes, lifts, facilities,...More

I don't ski, but the gondola ride up and down the mountain was spectacular. We rode up, ate lunch, and rode back down around sunset! Gorgeous!

Steamboat is nice. It's expensive but they do pull off a very very well run mountain and base area. It's crazy now what a day pass costs but I have been to other resorts that charge the same but don't produce. At least Steamboat meets...More

We moved to Steamboat Springs because of excellent skiing, not large crowds, excellent slopes for intermediates, good and excellent skiers (ok for beginners as there is some area at the bottom and soon to move up to the upper gentel slopes at the top). The...More

Had a blast at the 'Boat. Needed a little more snow, but it didn't diminish our fun. Would love to go back again.

Hope this isn't too late. There is no village at the bottom like you are describing. There are a couple bar/restaurants for apres skiing, but the nightlife is a drive away.

I always find the weekends produce more crowds than the weekdays. Go snowmobiling or tubing, or visit the hot springs over the weekend. The Rocky Mountain day spa at the Sheraton is excellent... relax with a massage. Town is... More
