It's an OK stretch of road and worth stopping after making the drive from Durango or Ouray but of these three towns it was my least favorite. The brewery was OK.

This is actually a fairly nice stop, and getting here is a wonderful trip, by car or by train. Very remote, but the shops in town are well worth visiting. Friendly folks too.

Like most tourest towns, Silverton presents a number of shops dedicated to tourest items----gifts, souverners, and restaurants. However, the location also offers a unique setting of an old western mining town, mixed with a ski destination. Outstanding place to visit.

I found this street "touristy" and I can't imagine how crazy it would be at the high tourist season. See it during the shoulder seasons is the best bet.

It is really nice wandering around in this historic downtown shopping area with its' many eateries to tempt you to enter. Don't miss the Imperial hotel, it is worth a few photos at least. And there are many reasonably priced souvenir shops as well.

Silverton is a very small town which is at the end of the Durango - Silverton train ride. There are a couple of good places to eat. Brown Bear is one of those! Additionally there are a relatively few shops that allow some shopping! Not...More

A small town that we loved at first. Until about lunch time when a local shop keeper went mental at the children using the gold panning attraction in the centre of town. We where actually in the line to purchase gems when she lost it....More

Not much to see. But they do have a couple of good restaurants. West of where the trains park there is a restaurant that at one time was a bar. Food was not too bad

Not very willing to help look for exact posters for the framing service they offer. Guess if you don't want to talk about trains you are not welcome

I agree with Pecos. His review is accurate. Be prepared for cold and damp and snow. But with Global warming, who knows. It might be beautiful! If the train is running, the shops and restaurants should be open. Be sure... More
