Fun family adventure hike. It's a long 10 miles of dirt road and switchbacks to the Devils Head Trailhead. We took our time as we have a very low car. We came on 4 of July so there was minimal traffic. But I hear it's...More

This is a great hike! Short, but a must. The 360 degree views from the top of the lookout are amazing! It is a popular hike and can be busy at peak times.

I absolutely loved the journey to the top of the lookout tower. The hike wasn't strenuous (at least from the point of several college students) and offered a breathtaking view once the summit was reached.

This is a great hike! so many places to stop and take photos. When you get to the top, don't be afraid to climb those final stairs, it's worth it!!! Hold on to your hat up there, it can get windy. Bring your camera!!

This is a special place. Great and easy hike to the top of Devil's Head and then on to the lookout tower which is only occasionally manned. Historically, if it was and you made it to the top, you received a card making you a...More

Came out here with my boyfriend early October 2015. I had vastly underestimated the difficulty I would have with the altitude and this became an all day event. The views and Aspen foliage were absolutely spectacular and Ranger Bill Ellis is such a sweet man....More

Wonderful vistas; an easy hike with numerous steps to scale to the lookout. Take the family. Like similar areas, terrible washroom facilities, but you are out in the middle of nowhere.

Is the trail ok for strollers? I know the stairs are not but how Bout up to the stairs?

Just finished the hike today - definitely not stroller friendly. Lots of steep switchbacks (not very flat) with rocks and other objects to step over.

Is the trail open now (November 4 - 6th 2016?) Just want to make sure it's not closed for the season before I make the trip.

The trail was open last week and I believe will stay open until Rampart Range closes Dec 1, but I don't think the fire tower at the top is open after mid September.

From Castle Rock you need to get on South Rampart Range Road, so depending on where you live, there are a couple ways you can access Rampart Range Road. I take Perry Park Road (105) to Jackson Creek Road. I follow Jackson... More
