We have driven by the Stations of the Cross Shrine several times. This time we decided we would stop. It is worth the climb to the top. We even took our dogs with us. Make sure you pause at each station and notice the details of the statues. They are beautiful. The trail is mostly gravel and I suggest good... More

We took the hike to the top to see the Stations of the Cross. The trail is concrete in some areas but mostly compacted earth. We were there when the temperature was in the mid 70's. On a hotter day, the climb might be a problem. The church at the top was open and beautiful inside.

I am having problems with my knee so could not walk up the stations of the cross. Talked to the woman in the information center and she told us we could drive up to the Chapel although we would miss most of the sculptures. We could see the Grotto and three of the final statues. Inside the chapel was still... More

Worth visiting for sure. A short hike up to the Shrine takes you past stations with amazing bronze statues depicting Christ's struggle to his ultimate sacrifice. Very inspiring and humbling.

This is a peaceful, beautiful, and holy place. The sculptor is local and his work is well-known in many other places. He is a fine, fine artist. The walk, with the sculpted art, is a good reminder of important events in Christ's last hours. This is a place one will remember, including the peacefulness that surrounds it.

We stopped here driving from Santa Fe to Colorado Springs on the "back roads." The drive was easy, and it is such a picturesque setting. The Stations of the Cross are beautifully made bronze artwork. The Church is lovely, and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the background make for a thing of beauty. The walk is moderately difficulty to... More

I was driving up to Mount Rushmore from Taos when I passed this small town in Southern Colorado and looked up a Mountain and saw this chapel. It was beautiful and I drove a dirt road and made it to the top to take pics. I was fortunate enough to be there during the week and it was empty which... More

Wanted to see this church for quite some time. It didn't disappoint. Beautiful reinactment of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The church was open and very pretty inside.

Wow I loved this stop! The stations of the cross meander up the hill and at the top there is a lovely, cool chapel! The view of the town and area is wonderful. Parking available at visitor center! God bless the town of San Luis!!

When we were driving from New Mexico to Colorado we didn't even know this was here. We start on the hill and decided to investigate. It was absolutely gorgeous and amazing. As you walk along the path you go through each Station of the Cross. It is by far one of the most beautiful and Serene places I've ever seen.... More
