- TrailTrekker15Tallahassee, Florida5,529 contributionsStunning WaterfallMy wife and I took a side-trip off I-70 to visit Rifle Falls. The extra hour and a half was totally worth it! The waterfall is close to the parking area. I highly recommend taking the trail completely around the falls for more views. Small caves line the trail as well and are easy to step into. This was such an amazing stop! I highly recommend Rifle Falls!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 January 2024
- yourkidsteacherLittleton, Colorado110 contributionsWorth the detour!Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area. We stopped by mid afternoon on a Thursday and we basically had the whole place to ourselves. It was magical! The falls were stunning, the caves were fun and exciting- enough to pull my 16 year old away from his technology and spend some time exploring the place with me for a good hour or so! That in itself is enough for me to rate this place 5 stars! There were no staff on site when we got there, so make sure to bring your $10 cash and use the self pay station for your entrance fees. I would gladly pay double that amount to have the experience we did. It's a bit of a drive from the highway, but worth it! In fact, I'm planning to go back again once summer arrives so I can really see it in all its glory.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 March 2024
- jeff77664Downingtown, Pennsylvania610 contributionsNice Little State Park - Waterfalls and Small CavesSpent about 1 hour at park in late April. Can see the base of the waterfalls and walk up top and see the waterfalls. There are some small caves to go into. A good stopping point if traveling between Denver and Grand Junction areas. Cost $10 if you have a vehicle.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 May 2024

Bring a flashlight, otherwise you will be letting your kids use your phone's light. Ha ha.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 July 2024
- Sightseer779040521 contributionsGreat spot to stop and see some scenery/rocks/and falls! This is a great place to go if you are in the area and willing to stop for a bit of scenery. We were camping at Rifle gap state park although you can camp here as well. As you enter the park, you do pass by all of the campsites (so note that if you are camping here there will be a lot of day traffic). After you pass the campsites, there is a small paved lot followed by a small gravel lot. They have someone there during peak times to help manage the parking flow and number of spots. There is a decent turn around though. The falls are right at the end of the path of the parking lot so not too far at all to walk. From there, there are a few trails you can take. We took the coyote trail in a 1.5 mile loop that took us to the top of the falls and back down. Note there are a lot of stairs and some steep stairs as well. There are different rock formations and "caves" that you can check out along the path as well. There are places where you can walk up close to the falls and even be misted. Great photo opportunities. Overall it is a nice trip over to see the falls. We were camping at Rifle gap state park only 4 miles away so that is something to do and see while you are there as well.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2024
- 6infamily78 contributionsWorth the WaitThis is an easy walk up hill to see a beautiful waterfall! The caves were also cool and you can easily get to them by the train which is up stairs and a bit of climbing. There are longer hikes to take. We just stayed around the waterfall. We almost did not get to see this beautiful sure. We drove for over an hour to get there and were turned away two times because the park was at capacity. The first time we drove back down to Rifle and found a deli where we had lunch. We gave it another try and were again turned away. I saw other reviewers talk about the fish hatchery just above there, so we drive up to their parking lot to regroup and decided we would drive back home. As we passed by the entrance to the park, we saw they were now allowing cars in. We quickly turned in and were so happy we could get in! The drive there was beautiful as well and we passed by two other parks, one with a beautiful lake. I love the views out here. So different from where I am from on the east coast. I hope to return to the falls to take more family members to see it.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 August 2024

- Piper417Montgomery, Illinois1,152 contributionsLove the soundTake 15 minutes or a few hours. But be sure to stop and see this waterfall. Easy walk to see and nice stairs to climb up if you want to see a little behind the falls. Parking can be a problem on certain days and season as it is limitedVisited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 September 2024
- RoverPInverness, United Kingdom799 contributionsAttractive accessible fallsThis is a very attractive waterfall which is accessible from a very easy and very short path. A relatively easy trail takes you across the top and down the other side. A short track also takes you up behind the falls. There are small limestone caves to explore en-route. This is well worth a visit but there is limited parking so you may get turned away. There is a $10 charge for cars to enter the falls area.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2024

Great park. You can drive in and park in the day area. The cost was $7 for a drive in and $4 if you walked or road a bike. The falls were beautiful and had 3-4 places to stop at different levels of the falls. I enjoyed going behind them. The caves are neat as well. I walked the whole loop stopping at everything in 1.5 - 2 hours. I was alone but this would be a great place to take a date or kids. Definitely would make a great proposal place too.

We drove from Glenwood Springs specifically to see this park for its accessibility because we have a special needs family member. The park has too little parking so it had to turn away at least 5 cars we saw. They need some sort of reservation system or at least warn people to come early. The fish hatchery down the road was great.

If you are traveling along 70 near here, this is about 20 minutes off the highway. You do need to buy a park day pass $9 - but you can walk around, picnic, and take some short walks near and around the falls. An easy short walk perfect for all ages and dog friendly.

Rifle Falls is beautiful on the winter. I can only imagine how it looks in the it other seasons. The path can be icy and i would highly recommend crampons. The caves are fun to explore. The overlooks towns the falls give you a totally different perspective.

Rifle Falls is an astonishingly beautiful place. We’re so used to dry land here in Colorado that it’s startling to see a scene out of Fantasy Island! The facilities here are a bit lacking. Everything just feels warm down and slightly neglected. Trust me, we pay our taxes here, our government just spends money … elsewhere. Enjoy this rugged, small, off the beaten place park!

A wonderful family experience with pets on leash included. $10 per car admission and there is a camping available. They have two parking lots, but limited parking. A 48 acre park with triple 70’ waterfalls. Casual hike around falls with limestone cliffs that have a few small caves, some with bats.
There were families with grandparents, it’s an easy hike with benches all around.

Do the ice caves stay intact until March, or should we go in February to make sure we see them?

Is this wheelchair accessible at all? I have 2 disabled little boys.
Written 7 August 2019
Yes, you can access to the falls, but not get inside to the caves or access the trails, which have steps.

My husband needs to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Is there more shade or sun on the hike up behind the falls? Looks like the road south of the park is still open
Written 5 August 2019
It's a short hike with some shade along the top and behind the falls. If you walk to the fish pond, it's open sun
