Easy hike by the river!

Great hike into a rocky canyon right on the river. If you have dogs, they love to play in the river along the way!

Wandered out this way during a long weekend stay in Pagosa Springs. We wanted to do some light hiking and had pulled over to check out a cliff when we noticed this trail winding down through the hills. We drove to the trailhead and hiked with my family and a couple of friends about 4 miles out and back. Easy,... More

a good, hike that can be short or long, depending on how far you want to go. We just hiked about a mile into the river canyon, which is spectacular.

We hiked this trail to the falls in the snow and found it safe and pleasant with excellent views. On the way back, we walked on the frozen river for a little added spice.

Its hard to not just go a bit nuts on this place. The Piedra river trail is easy to walk, yet probably as beautiful as anything we've ever seen. We were walking the trail and in the river below us was a wade-fly-fisherman casting in the tranquil waters... as we turned the corner on the trail toward us came two... More

From Pagosa Springs, it is about a 30 minute drive, with 15-20 minutes of the drive on dirt/gravel roads. The trail moves along the beautiful Piedra River and winds up and down and side to side in a way that keeps you engaged and interested, with fantastic rock formations all around you. Not sure how long the trail is, as... More

It is listed as a 12 mile hike, but was very easy to follow and navigate. Views of the distant mountains gave way to the canyons of the river. Would do this hike again when we had more time.

A beautiful hike to the falls! Not too strenuous and pet friendly! The falls are absolutely worth the hike there. About 1/2 a mile.

Easy hike for all ages that follows the Piedra River through a spectacular canyon. If you fly fish bring your fly rod

We took about 2 hours to hike in the lower trail and enjoyed calming vistas along the river. Hike was easy with just a few places that would be scary for someone who doesn't like heights. Recommend for families with smaller children too
