Not all of the campsites feel secluded as you are still near a road and homes but many of them are nestled in the trees. It's nice because the larger RVs don't make it up here so there aren't generators and most of the sites...More

The long hill heading up to Pinewood Reservoir is one of the best motorcycle rides in Northern Colorado. Long easy turns, great vistas of Loveland. The lake looks nice, but we come up for the ride, and use Carter Lake when we want a lake.

Camping areas are very nice and roomy. Will be much nicer when the trees get a little bigger. Area has a boat ramp, so be sure and take your boat, it is a wakeless lake.

This is a favorite hiking area of mine. Over time, many of the nearby areas have become too crowded to enjoy. This area (likely because it is a fee area) is never overly crowded, dog friendly, and fairly pristine. We have an annual county parks...More

We love driving up to this reservoir. We have taken paddle boards up in the summer. The water is really calm and its never that crowded. Fishing is so-so. We usually see wildlife. It's just a really great, quiet spot to camp, picnic, and relax.

Pinewood offers an easily accessable getaway with spectacular scenery, camping, fishing and hiking. it us not crowded, and offers much for either a full day, or just a few hours.

Water was excellent. As a pass-through storage on the Big Thompson Water Project this empoundment is not subject to the same kinds of draw-downs that some of the lower lakes "enjoy". Water is colder, a bit clearer and best enjoyed on a hot summer day....More

The sites have grills at every site, as do the picnic table sites.
