Me and my girlfriend went to Colorado for a weeks vacation and celebrate our two year anniversary. We went to Idaho springs to the gold mine on August 8,2018 and as soon as we arrived we were greeted by a lady who was very sweet...More

We went because this was advertised as a working mine on the brochure we picked up but, unfortunately, that is not the case. HOWEVER, we were not disappointed with our $10 tour as we got to see and learn how minerals and metals were pulled...More

Stopped here after hearing about mine at Idaho Springs visitor center. Did not have time for tour but granddaughter spent 30 to 40 minutes panning. Cost was 5.00. No instructions were given. There was an older gentleman panning and we asked him for some tips....More

I am so sorry that you did not receive a panning lesson. Generally, everyone that comes up to pan is given a lesson and is shown what to look for. If you get a chance to come back up we would love a chance to...More

A cute stop to pan for gold after a very educational tour of the mine. Guide was great with kids and explained so much of the mining process. Only drawback- definitely go to the bathroom before coming here- only have an outhouse that was so...More

This is a one man show. I think the Argo mine is a better option. Kids enjoyed the panning ! There was quite a wait to get in without a set schedule and one vet running it.More

It was a nice way to spend a few hours. The tour was short and sweet. Worth the price. The panning was fun. Don't expect to pull many precious metals, but it was full of great memories! Awesome day with the kids

We toured with 8 adults and a 5 & 6 yo. Our guide gave a great explanation of how gold, silver and the other minerals were formed many eons ago before we entered the mine. Adults must wear a hardhat supplied by the mine, children...More

Although not as close to Idaho Springs as the Argo Mine, this smaller version has some facinating aspects to it. Small tour group sizes, viewing how they got the ore out of the mine, and seeing the actual veins of gold, silver, iron, and copper...More
