This might be all you need to know: there was no hair dryer. The towels were insanely thin. Our room (203) had no a/c, and the window would not stay up, so we just had to endure the heat. Our King room was tiny. There is no deadbolt on the door, just a locking door knob. As I said, imagine a Motel 6 in 1979, and you get the picture.

The tiny bathroom was updated and the bed was good.

But we only paid $147, and for that, we were allowed to use the water features for free, a $46 value.

And it's within walking distance to downtown, which is an excellent place to hang out—lots of good bars and restaurants.

Also, the staff was pleasant and efficient. Something I always appreciate.

The main pool was nice and big but very crowded during peak times. If you go right when they open, you'll basically have the pool to yourself. We reserved an outside jacuzzi and unfortunately the water was way too hot (113 degrees!!!). We spoke with the front desk and they can't control the temps but did explain that since we had the first time slot (8:30am) that is when the jacuzzis are at their hottest because they are covered overnight which keeps all the heat in. Totally made sense and they gave us a full refund. The Caves are very hot! The water temp is perfect but because the air temps is equivalent to the water temp (100+), it is so hot and steamy that we could spend 10 mins at the most at a time. Overall, good experience but definitely not my favorite hot spring experience.

Never again. Apparently there is a no talking policy but it only applies to some people. They almost kicked us out for talking when there were white women were talking, loudly. Then tried to kick out a family of Asian women who weren't being loud. Then when we tried to talk to the worker ,she accused us of yelling. Apparently some people complained but then the story changed to the staff member heard us talking. And the other white girls didn't sign the mandatory waiver so they got a pass. She eventually gave us and the family "a warning". Also apparently hushed tones/whispering counts as talking and we're not allowed to talk in the changing room either. But then more women were talking in the caves and lockers and the worker never came down to ask them to leave.

First, let me say that I have been to hot springs all over Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico, including two previous visits to this specific establishment. I have a great deal of soaking experience and I adore very hot mineral water.

I booked a private outdoor bath online a few days before my visit. When we arrived, we were informed that due to "spring break", the price was actually $5 higher per person, than what I had already paid and what was advertised on their website. Is it even legal to charge a higher price than what was advertised and already paid for? I don't know, but since we were already there and looking forward to our soak, we paid. Further, I added a tip since on a previous visit, there was an attendant that prepared the bath area for us. Lastly, we were told that the jacuzzi bubbles were turned off in order to maintain temperature control.Disappointing, but okay.

We arrived early, and were told we could head back to our bath early. It was a different bath than the one that was named in the online booking confirmation but no big deal. There was no attendant, so we changed into our suits and removed the very heavy cover from the tub.

Eager to get out of the cold air and into the tub, we were shocked at the scalding temperature of the water. I couldn't even put a foot in, it felt as if it were just below boiling. Although I didn't measure, I believe it was easily 130 degrees. Hoping that the removal of the cover would quickly cool it down, we spent 20 minutes trying to "stir" the water, like soup, in an effort to cool it. Unfortunately, the water did not cool and we were never able to get in. Tired of sitting in the 40 degree air waiting to get in, we changed back into our regular clothes and went to the front desk to get our car keys back.

After explaining the issue to the front desk employee, we did not get our money back. There is a sign posted in the tub area that states any problems must be reported within five minutes, which we did not see until we were leaving and they did not explain this policy when we checked in. She stated that she would "send maintenance to check on it."

Aside from the extremely poor customer service and terrible customer experience, quite frankly, they could be sued for allowing people into water that hot.

We will never visit this establishment again. Think twice before spending your hard-earned money here.

Every summer, I spend a week or so in the Colorado wilderness backpacking and climbing, and I'm always looking for a way to relax and refresh my muscles at the end of my trip. I looked up various options, and as soon as I saw the geothermal caves at Indian Hot Springs, I knew that I had found exactly what I needed. After a very wet and cold last day packing up and hiking out in the rain, the thought of soaking in the hot springs kept me going.

Check in at Indian Hot Springs was quick and easy, and the staff were very friendly. It took less then five minutes to get from parking my car to the cave locker room. The locker room has large lockers that fit my backpack and clothes, and a variety of benches and chairs for relaxing between soaks in the hot spring pools or time in the cave. After five days in the wilderness, I definitely needed a shower first, and while small, the showers on the way to the caves were perfect for what I needed.

The caves themselves are pretty unique. Over the past century, they have been carved out, enlarged, and enhanced to provide plenty of places to soak and relax. The atmosphere in the caves is like a sauna, with an ambient temperature of around 120 degrees and almost 100% humidity. There are three pools with crystal clear hot spring water piped in directly. The pools are hot, and the day that I went, the coolest pool was closest to the door, and the hottest pool was in the back. There are also about half a dozen large tile benches that are great for laying or sitting on for the sauna like atmosphere of the cave. I spent about an hour and a half in the caves, usually 5-10 minutes at a time in the hot pools, about 30 minutes laying on the benches in the cave, and a couple trips to the benches in the locker room or into the shower with cold water to cool down if I got too warm. Something I learned, and that I will do in the future, is to bring an insulated bottle of ice water into the caves to help regulate body temperature.

One of the highlights for me was the strict policy of silence in the locker room and caves. I wanted a personal relaxing time without the more social atmosphere in some other hot springs I've been to. There are signs that prohibit talking in both the locker room and the cave, and I was able to relax in peace.

The caves are clothing optional on weekdays, and since I discovered them during my trip, I didn't plan ahead and bring a bathing suit. While there are bathing suits for sale in the lobby, I decided to go without. I felt completely comfortable, and found the atmosphere to be respectful of people's personal choice on the matter. In fact, because the caves are separated by gender, it provides a much more supportive and safe atmosphere for being clothing optional.

Overall, I was very impressed with the geothermal caves. Indian Hot Springs will be a must-do stop for me before and after each of my Colorado backpacking and climbing trips.

PRIVATE BATH REVIEW-

We arrived 10 minutes early to our 4:30pm reservation (which I paid half at the time of reservation) to be greeted with a line out the doors down the path. We approached the desk and told them that we had reservations and was told to go to the back of the line “because everyone had reservations”.
This is in fact false. The private pools and jacuzzis are reservation based. The pools and caves are day passes.
We wait in line and when we get to the counter at 4:45pm we were told that we could only be in the private pool until 5:30pm but would still pay for the full hour. I told the front desk gentleman that putting a disclaimer on the appointment confirmation email stating “We do not accommodate reservations, please arrive 30 minutes before your reservation in order to ensure you get your full hour”. He responded “We make everyone wait in line to be respectful of everyone’s time. It’s common sense to show up early. Dont you wait in lines at other places?”

When I pay half of the reservation and show up early, I don’t expect to wait in line and lose time that I pay for.
It was a ruined experience for us and would like others to be aware so they don’t waste time/money.

This was sadly a dirty and repulsive experience. Not sure where to start, so will hit the three biggest offenders. There was a large clump of private body hair in and right outside the 'required' shower stall before entering the pool. It was there when we returned 45 min later. The "private bath" which certainly sounded good, turned out to be a dark, damp basement room that had grungy grout and barely enough light to see the rest of the darker tile stains, tub and room corners. The lodge room we stayed smelled and the top comforter had clumps of sticky dried something on it. We didn't discover this til about 11:30 pm - too late to abandon and drive back to Denver. What is really curious is the amount of cameras they have everywhere - including the middle of the ceiling in the hallway outside our room. Makes you wonder what they are trying to catch or minimize as opposed to investing in better facilities. Never. Ever. Again.

I have been in the hotel/ Resort business for the last 20 years and was not pleased with this place .

When we arrived on Mother’s Day they gave us the keys to our cabin and they were still cleaning it . We finally got in an hour after guarantee time .
They were not very apologetic. That is a big boo- boo to give keys to dirty cabin .
I left a throw blanket on the bed by accident upon leaving . I called the next day to inquire about it .
After finally reaching someone they said that someone had found it but I’d have to speak with a manger in order to retrieve it from where they hold lost and found items .
After again many attempts to reach a live person they said they didn’t know where it was now but were looking for it .
I went there in person to speak with someone about how does a blanket go missing ? After it was found .
It should have been put somewhere safe with all the other items people left behind .
Typically you hold these items for a month . The question is how safe is your stuff when they can’t seem to track down a throw blanket they once had in their possession.
I asked them to track it to who cleaned it and go from there .
I have yet to hear back from them .
They were not very friendly nor concerned about the fact someone took the blanket as it didn’t just vanish into thin air .
They do not have a huge staff so this should not be a hard task .
Yes it was my fault I left it behind but one would hope you could trust your staff .
I will not be returning or recommending this place .
I’ve never wrote a bad review before but this is not okay what happened . Think twice before you come here or keep your valuables in your car .

Really enjoyed visiting Indian Hot Springs. A lot of the other reviews made me nervous about my trip but I'm glad I went. My friend and I arrived around 10am on a Saturday with massages booked for the afternoon.

With a massage you get access to either the pools or the caves and a towel. The massages were a little pricey but still great. We had a slight reservation issue but the staff was so apologetic and helpful the whole experience was still fabulous.

This is not a hotel spa. This is not the Four Seasons. So do not expect that. But if you go in knowing this is a little bit rustic but a beautiful place with great people you'll enjoy yourself.

The caves were my favorite part. Clothing optional. Super hot. A must if you're looking for a real hot springs expereince.

The pool, also fed with hot spring water, was nice but slowly, as the day progressed filled with children and groping couples. Still check it out but go early and get out of the pool early. It's a shame they don't have children free hours. The caves are 18+. But the pool is still lovely, warm water, not as hot as the caves and youre surrounded by gorgeous tropical plants.

The massages were also great. Joel was the best, request him if you can!

There's no restaurant on site but they do have a gift shop with snacks and vending machines. I recommend grabbing a picnic lunch from some place before you get there.

Really I'd recommend this place to anyone that was interested and planning on being in the area. Great experience.
