About
By the end of the last century, Mr. Francisco Kelly , an Argentine citizen of irish descendance named his land Santa Susana as a homage to his wife, Susana Caffrey. The ranch is located in the district of Campana , Buenos Aires province, and near the town of Los Cardales. It actually occupies an area of 1200 Hectares (2965 acres) mainly dedicated to agricultural activities, and ,since around 24 years ago, it has also been exploites as a tourism resort, either at national or at international levels. Not too much things to do here , just take a look and go back to the city… Good for tourism agencies and for the owners to earn money. No special good food . The restrooms are old and rudimentary with so many tourists, it would be good to fix them😔 I don't recommend spending money on this!

A great visit. Not to be missed.
A great day out. Very real experience. Family engaging. Gauchos worked hard riding horses with great skill. They also served great bbq meats and lovely salads. Wine was heavenly! Throughly recommend the experience.

Fun experience! Just enjoy the animals, Gauchos, food and wine and go with the flow.
Lovely area! Great break away from the huge city. It was about an hours drive from our hotel near the Obleisk. We were greeted by gauchos and their women with delicious empanadas and wine. The dogs were cute and friendly. I took the carriage ride around the ranch — later on I bought a large photograph that their photographer took. It cost 10 US Dollars and it came with a large photo booket. We then walked through the original house, which is now a small museum. We could see how they grilled the sausages, beef and chicken. The dinner was good and we sampled all kinds of meats. The salads were wonderful, fresh and tasty! Wine, sodas and water came with the meal. The Dessert tasted good as well. We saw some Tango and Gaucho dancers. Good musicians. Finally there was a Gaucho Show. The horses were fun to watch. This was well-worth the tour. Plenty of shade. We went in mid-April, their Fall season, so the weather was pleasant. (Others who have gone in their summer say it can be real hot, so please keep this in mind if you go at that time.)

We had a full day here and it was perfect. First we were greeted with a great empanada snack and a glass of wine. Off to the gaucho show and what a demonstration of horsemanship. It's amazing how they can work the horses. Afterwards we had a ride around the grounds on a nice old wagon. Okay, off to the original homestead and chapel and what an experience to see the furnishings and household items. The barbecue was cooking during this time and the cooking filled the are. Wow, the grill was filled with quite an assortment of meats. Okay, it was time for a wonderful feast of fresh salad, rolls, chicken, beef (yes, it is the best in the world), pork, sausages potatoes and dessert. Okay, now for the show! They put on a fantastic folkloric show of singing and exceptional. We loved the whole experience.

Four of us visited the ranch on a day trip from BA. The estancia is an working family run cattle ranch. I was most struck by the beauty of the surroundings. The views of the grasslands surrounding the ranch were breathtaking. We toured the original home set-up as a museum, and watched a gaucho horsemanship demonstration.
Finally, we had an extended lunch of multiple cuts of meats grilled over a wood fire.
While perhaps a bit touristy, the tour provided a view of early life on the grassland ranches of Argentina.

Located about an hour and a half from Buenos Aires. I came here through a Gate 1 optional tour; there were about twenty five people in our tour group. The estancia grounds are beautiful and upon arrival we were greeted with delicious empanadas and wine 🍷. All of the staff were very welcoming. We toured the asado grill area and saw the outstanding meal being prepared for our later lunch. Steaks 🥩, chicken , ribs , two types of sausage (chorizo & blood) . Guests were invited on the horse 🐴 drawn wagon to tour the grounds. We also toured the historic home on the property and learned about Gaucho (Argentine cowboy 🤠) and ranch culture. There were two working dogs 🐕 on the property and also a lot of Monk Parakeets. Lunch was so good with unlimited wine (included in our excursion price ). The meat just kept coming. The delicious wine I later learned was a red blend from nearby. While dining in the large covered hall you are entertained with traditional dancing and music on the stage. After lunch you proceed to watch a wonderful display of Gaucho 🐎 horsemanship. The Gaucho grab rings from an elevated stand at a full gallop. They also herd other horses etc. It was a wonderful day to learn and enjoy the culture of the gauchos.

We were welcomed with wine/soda and an empanada. Then we toured the original house and chapel and headed out to the corral. The gauchos then demonstrated their horsemanship. After watching some great riding, we went in to watch a great show of tango, music, and other dancing. The food was excellent- all types of meat, salads and drinks. Wine, water and soda included. Just a wonderful way to spend the day.

It was a very hot day, no place to sit to watch the very dusty show. It was due to the drought so I can let that go. By the time we arrived we only had time for the show and dinner. We have had other trips in South America, this meal was the worst. The meat in this part if the world is excellent and I was looking forward to it! Well it was less than edible, tough meat and absolutely NO taste what do ever. Not the normal what so ever. We left the table to walk around for the time we had left.

The level of the show was ok. You can only watch the horses run in a circle so many times. And the horse races to catch the
rings was not much after about five times.
.
Our Cruise was just incredible, we just loved it. Even the days at sea were busy and very
enjoyable. This tour falls to the bottom.

We left the hotel at 10 and arrived there around 11:20. They welcomed us with freshly made empanadas and drinks.

You can go to small museums on the hacienda and see what they made and kept when the owners lived there. You can take advantage of the wagon trips, lie on the grass and watch the parakeets, watch the ring races and definitely eat.

It is a complete experience where they adapt rare or peculiar local food to the palate of the foreigner. If you travel with small children it may attract their attention and if you don't, and you want a day out of the city but that still contributes to the trip, it is an excellent option. During the meal there is also a traditional tango show.

Perhaps our expectations were too high for the tour we booked from our cruise ship - "Gaucho Life on the Pampas". Things started out well. We were greeted with a great empanada snack and a glass of wine. Then we had the opportunity to go for a ride on a horse or take a carriage ride. The horse ride was OK but pretty lame for an experienced rider. However, my wife has mobility issues that would make it difficult to mount and ride a horse. Thus, she opted to take the carriage ride. It turns out that she would have had to make a big step up to get into the carriage (there was no stool or step). Thus that option was denied as well.
We toured the old house and chapel - quite nice. Then we had lunch. Unfortunately, the food was so overcooked as to be almost inedible. The chicken was dry and the beef extremely tough. The wine was no great but the beer was good. The show during lunch was fine.
Finally there was the gaucho skills show. Frankly, it was a bit boring. Yes, the skill level required was high but as a show, it failed.
This was an OK day but we expected more for the price. This was in the bottom 10% of the tours that we purchased from the cruise line.
