Wanted a hike on our road trip and this was perfect! Right off I70. Trail exit marked as a rest area. We hiked for an hour. Trail follows the creek. Kids would also enjoy the rocks and the view of the water. There are also a couple picnic tables not far from the trail parking lot. It would be a great spot for a scenic picnic.

If you stop at the log that has “I love” carved in it then I would say it is great. If you continue on to the top then the tel is in rough shape with many ravines from washouts that are quite deep. We went up 3 miles and finally a washout was about 10’ down with a little stream running through it and so we turned around. The roaring creek is wonderful though and we did see a bear come down to take a drink

This hike starts right at the Grizzly Creek Rest Stop, unlike so many other hikes in the area there's no permit required and it's absolutely free. I was blown away and thought it one of the best hikes I've ever done!

The hike follows Grizzly Creek and and is framed by stunning mountain faces. It was on the low 30's Celsius (around 95 farenheit) but a good portion of the way you're walking in shade created by abundant plants so it was very pleasant. We were quite winded most of the way up as there's a subtle (mostly) but steady altitude gain and my wife and I aren't used to the altitude. The Forestry Service says the trail is closed two miles in at a large rock slide on their website but there's no mention of this at the trailhead or when you get to the slide so we continued on another 3/4 of a mile or so after that. It didn't get a little rougher as the trail was covered in loose rocks so you'll definitely want to be wearing good boots and watch your step.

There are plenty of places where you can access the creek if you want to take a break and cool off. I highly recommend this hike, it's not as hard core as others and if you're not a huge hiker you could just do the first mile or so and turn around and if you want a challenge then I think doing the full 6 miles each way would do it. We did roughly 5 miles round trip and we were absolutely exhausted at the end. We went slow and took lots of breaks and it took about two hours.

We came in town and had time to kill before checking into our AirBNB, so found this easy, but beautiful trail to explore! There was still plenty of snow and we were good in snow boots/hiking boots, but could've use yaktrax also. The river view was beautiful!

To get to Hanging Lake you have to take the Grizzly Creek rest stop exit 121 and turn around to go east on I70. I took this as an opportunity to stop and stretch our legs. It’s a nice rest stop. Shady, lots of parking. There’s a boat dock and we saw some rafters. A nice path to walk and explore. You can walk down to the river’s edge and watch the rafters coming downriver.

Nice restroom with soda and snack machines in the building. Picnic tables to sit and enjoy a meal at. It was pretty shady so we weren’t burning from the sun. I recommend stopping here if you’re passing through to rest at. There’s lots of activities too - hiking, walking, biking and rafting.

We looked up this spot on AllTrails and so exited on our way out of Glenwood. The rest area there is great. Nice view of the river, nice biking path, and a place to see the creek connect with the river. You need to go up underneath the interstate to get to the trailhead. We read that the first 2 miles are pretty easy and that was definitely true. There are lots of little paths down the the creek were you can just take in all the beauty. We went out 40min and then back and had a great time.

We stopped in the rest area and came across the Trail Head purely by accident. We decided to hike part of the 5-mile trail. It is an easy hike and pleasant as it runs by the rushing creek but a few hundred yards in, we could smell and taste the charred wood from the disastrous forest fire in 2020. Virtually all of the trees for as far as you could see were scorched. For someone who only has seen forest fires on TV, it was a very sober reminder of the destruction of forest fires. Definitely recommend the hike!
