This museum is located at a private house that has been donated to the Glenwood Springs historical society. Inside are the usual historical artifacts and information you would find in a museum but with the local interest of being about or from residents of Glenwood Springs. The house is also set up to show what life was like for the family that owned the house which looks to be around the 1940's-1950's. The kitchen, dining room and bedrooms upstairs all showcase furniture from that era. Also, the volunteers that oversee the house for the historical society are very friendly and informative. If you enjoy history, I would recommend stopping by this museum for a visit.

It's a small museum located in an old house in Glenwood, but it contains a ton of local history. I love that sort of thing. It costs $4 for adults and $3 for kids. I'd rather skip an ice cream cone and go see some cool history.

You pay $4.00 (which I think is a little expensive) and you can go through on your own. they have informative signs on the displays. there are two floors that are packed with antiques and tons of history. I loved everything about this place. the kitchen was thoughtfully put together and the upstairs has the wardrobes and guns. the bedroom is very nice also.

If you’re in Glenwood and want to taste the unique flavor of its history, this is a nice little house museum for just that. It’s also filled with plenty of antiques, and visitors are allowed to roam freely and touch anything they like. We’ve been in hundreds of similar museums, are “of a certain age,” and so not much was a surprise. When you see stuff you, or your parents, or your grandparents actually used, well, the stuff can’t possibly be antique, can it?

But the local history is worth the visit. It’s the first place we visited when we stayed in Glenwood for a few days. From then on, names and events made sense to us. They have a free walking-tour booklet that gives you the skinny on buildings you’ll see in the city centre.

First thing to know is they have limited hours, so be sure to confirm they are open. This is housed in a lovely home which was a very upscale for the period. The house is filled with many items that were not there originally along with some that were. It is not rich in interpretive information or signage, You can easily see it all in 30 minutes. There is ample street parking available.

The walking tour starts about 10 a.m. for $15 which includes admission afterwards to the museum. There are 2 full floors and another small couple of rooms that are well done with artifacts, guns, wardrobes, full kitchen, etc. I loved it, fun to see some things that I remember from my childhood in the 60's that were still hanging around from the 50's in my mom's house, and lots of much older stuff! This would be fun for 8-12 year olds to see up close 'how things were'. The ladies who run the show there are all very delightful. A nice place to get a souvenir poster or book as proceeds help the museum. They have quilts in there from mid 1800's and early 1900's! The walking tour takes you all around and the guide we had that day was ery knowledgeable: he info on the tour is verified by researching old newspapers and the like. I had no problem walking that much but you might think twice for around 70 and older unless you are in very good shape as you walk some inclines, uneven sidewalks, in the hot sun at times. It was well worth the $15 because we got some great info and then were able to go into the museum at which we perused for well over an hour.

the walking tour of town was fun and informative. The guide was very knowledgeable. We spent 6 hours walking around town and still did not see everything.

Our host was charming and informative, and very welcoming. The layout is thoughtfully executed, and a lot of information is packed into a tiny space. Good use of an old house, as well. The search game for kids was a nice touch, too. It's well worth the paltry entry fee.

The older woman who signed us in was wonderful and very helpful. The museum does a great job of giving you an overview of the historical significance of the area. Price was right for the hour we nearly spent there.
