First and foremost, the parking lot is always full, so don't try to park there. The BEST thing is to rent a bike (we used Glenwood Adventure Company) and lock it up at the trailhead. Way easier!! Do NOT start this hike without a full...More

Incredibly beautiful and fun. There were other people on the trail but not over crowded. Its about a mile up which I thought would be a snap but the altitude got to me (Atlanta girl) after about a .5 miles and I had to slow...More

Personally, I didn't find this long (an hour one way), hot, strenuous hike to be worth the views of the boardwalk-encircled pond that was at its end. If you're just a tourist passing through and looking for at least some sort of Colorado hike this...More

Prepare for this strenuous hike and for the most beautiful view of the hanging lake. We saw all ages on this trail. Go early as others have said, there was a constant stream of people going up when we were coming down about 10am. Wear...More

Like the other reviewers, I think this may be one of the best hikes in Colorado. It is difficult. Straight up a mountain for 1.2 miles. The end result is amazing. Be sure to scamper up to see Spouting Rock also...a must!

This is a challenging trail. Steep and rocky, but the scenery is exceptional. Proper footwear and attire is recommended. The cold mountain stream that flows next to the trail keep the air cool, but you will definitely work up a sweat. Lots of rock hopping....More

Very scenic hike, but it is not for those that are first timers or those with health problems. The rocks and several parts of the trail are very slippery and the path is often crowded if you go late in the day. So I would...More

We saw a lot of children on the trail, even some quite young. There are portions that are very steep, and rocky. If you were to take a 3 year old, I would be prepared with a backpack to carry the child for portions of the... More

Do any of the Glenwood Springs hotels offer a shuttle service to the Hanging Lake parking area?

I do not know. The parking lot for the trailhead is only 10 miles from town, so maybe a deal with an Uber driver to drop you off and pick you up a couple hours later?
