Really enjoyable (and relatively short) hike. The falls at Hanging Lake are beautiful and don't miss out on the upper falls just another 200 yards or so up the trail from the lake. Parking is a challenge. As every visitor will tell you, go on...More

Parking is tough in the morning but the trail was clean and beautiful. Did have drone users and dogs on the trail in spite of clearly marked "no-no"s.

It has become so popular that it is imperative to start your hike very early in the morning (7AM is a good start time) to be able to assure parking and a relaxing climb. Be KIND to the hard working Park Rangers! The new signs...More

If you are headed west on I-70 and need a break, the short hike to hanging Lake may be what you want. When we were there it was crowded, but still worthwhile for the short hike to get there.

This trail ascends about 1000 ft in a little more than a mile. I do exercise regularly, but with the elevation being so different than my home state, I had to stop regularly to get my heart rate down a little. Drink some water. (Fortunately,...More

When we arrived 1:00 pm there was a 30-40 min wait just to park! I've been on the hike before, which is incredible but we brought some family to let them experience it but sadly we couldn't wait.

Hiked with friends, we have been going to Hanging Lake since the 80s. The beauty has not changed and it is a must see.

Drink PLENTY of water (NOT caffeine or alcohol) before you go and during your hike and TAKE YOUR TIME!!! If you get part way and don't feel good turn around and head back. As beautiful as it is, it isn't worth the risk.

I do not know. The parking lot for the trailhead is only 10 miles from town, so maybe a deal with an Uber driver to drop you off and pick you up a couple hours later?
