If your staying near Glenwood Springs there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't hike this trail...you'll regret not seeing this because it's one of the most beautiful hikes. The ascent is quite crazy it's only a 1.5 miles up but it's vertical the whole way. If it's your first day I'd get used to the air before trying this because... More

Too much treacherous ice to be a reasonable choice for the non-expert. You really need crampons or other foot gear for ice.

This was one of the best hikes I have ever done in Colorado. It was a pretty steep incline but had breath taking views and a refreshing waterfall shower at the top!

While the hike is pretty steep and the trail is rocky, the scenery and views are well worth it! Along the hike up there are a number of small waterfalls and views from the top are breathtaking. Plus, you can't beat the lake itself. Take a some water and a snack to enjoy at the top and you wont be... More

A rigorous 45+ minute climb for a couple of active seniors. Glad we had cleats (the over the shoe type) to reduce the level of risk over the hard snow pack. Good intermediate hike. Recommend and would do it again.

I love hiking Hanging Lake Trail . Although in the winter it can be quite treacherous I will say winter is my favorite time to hike . As long as you have poles and yak trax you'll be golden . Such a beautiful hike . Truly Gods artistry at its finest !

This is a tough steep hike. During the summer months it is rocky and narrow. Last weekend it was snowpacked and slippery. Too narrow for snowshoes but ski pole(s) or walking stick(s) were a huge help. Wished I owned crampons. The last 25 yards are a little scary on the side of a cliff but there are guard rails and... It's AMAZING! The trek up is not easy if your not in shape, but I'm 55+, overweight and was able to do it. You just have to take short breaks in between. You need to remember to take plenty of water with you. If you are going up in the winter, I would suggest getting some hikimh spikes for your... More

From what I gather reading other reviews, this can be a difficult hike for most people. I have asthma and found this to be very difficult but also very rewarding. I never go anywhere without an inhaler, and had to use mine multiple times to make it to the top. At one point, there's an overhang/outcropping where you must cling... More
