We parked at the Stagecoach Trailhead and the hike round trip was around 8.5 miles. It took us 2 hours to get up and around 1.5 hours to get down but we trail ran most of it. The views are great and it's around 2,000 feet of elevation gain. We started at 6:30 a.m. and the parking lot was completely full when we got back.

This is a great trail in Evergreen... and there are a few options, based on what your looking for in the way of a hike (intensity and length). From a 9 1/2 mile hike to the summit where you can enjoy beautiful views to a leisurely stroll across Elk Meadow where you're likely to enjoy viewings of deer and elk...
Another bonus for dog lovers...
This is a dog lover community... and across the street from the Stagecoach Drive entrance, there is a GREAT dog park. There is an area that's fenced in and an area that is not. It's the best dog park I know of in the area... even better than any I've gone to in Boulder.
Love Evergreen.

Always A Great hike. The 5 mile hike from the Stagecoach parking lot to the peak is well worth it. I helped build these trails back in 1978 and the hike always brings back fond memories of my summer working for Jeffco Open Space.

This was a great hike; beautiful and challenging, especially considering we just came in from Houston the day before. If you're flatlanders like us, give yourself about 6 hours. That will be enough time to stop and catch your breath and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Bring enough water, and bring your binoculars too!

Bergen Peak is a wonderful hike. Long and a bit challenging, typically 3-4 hours round trip. Take plenty of water for you and your dog. The view is wonderful from the top!

This hike is about 10 miles round trip and it takes all day when children area along. I really like that there is so much variety in the landscape and we enjoy a constantly changing landscape. During this hike, you can expect that the weather is likey to change because our mountain climate fluctuates wildly each day, so take a rain pancho for emergencies. We always pack our lunch and eat at the summit. Be sure to pack your trash out!

Much better trail than Elk Meadow, although they are connected. Its a haul to the top, but a nice workout. Beautiful mountain vistas. Restroom facilities-well maintained trails. Bring a picnic and enjoy!

The trail to Bergen Peak starts in the Elk Meadow Open Space Park, financed by the Jefferson County sales tax. It's roughly 10 mi round trip. Bring a couple water bottles as the first part of the trip is mostly uphill albeit a more gradual ascent. I'd reccommend you be in some sort of physical shape. I'm 68 and hike it, but I live in Evergreen and have adapted to the altitude. I'd recommend this hike and, heck, you have a good chance of seeing some elk.

Avoid weekends if you can because trying to get out of the way of the bikers gets a bit old after a while...

Great and moderate shaded hike. Expect varying terrain. Takes some time to get to the point if you intend to run it. Great view of Evergeen!
