The Animas winds its way through Durango and provides relaxing oppotunities to sit and watch it go by. Sometimes you can see rafters or kayakers floating down it. The paved river trail is a great way to see the river and those brave enough to tackle the rapids.

This river was a mesmerizing color of green, almost like looking at melted ice caps. The canyon the river runs through, and even once it flattens out as it closes in on Durgango, is beautiful. I would recommend it for fishing, or scenic views, or creek walking ( in certain areas).

The river is gorgeous. We followed it for all across the river walk and into other towns nearby. Would recommend to anyone.

A beautiful river, but recently a man-made disaster befell it, and it was contaminated. This event made national news.

A beautiful river, the only problem was I fished it for 3 days with out a bite, if it had fish they were a lot smarter then the guy with the pole.

We loved our 1st time kayaking experience on this river that flows through quaint Durango. If you want a bit more adventure than the rafting, inflatable kayaks were a great option. We used Mild to Wild Rafting and can't recommend their guides and customer service enough.

Went rafting in this river. I have been rafting in a few other places. Compared to them, this river was more mellow. If you have never been rafting, this is a good river to start in.

We rode the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad along the Animas. Every turn had something new to enjoy. I can see why it's such an attraction.

it's a beautiful view the whole way, and whatever rafting company you choose, it will be a fun experience. It's not a real bumpy trip, except for some parts where it was a rush of adrenaline :)). For the most part, it was a relaxing-ish ride, but it was fun to paddle and it was easier to do more fun... More
