This is a wonderful trail! We rode our bikes from the south end to downtown and back. Park staff was cleaning and doing maintenance and they do a great job. We'll be back!

What a great feature of Durango!
This walk extends for miles along the river. There are several park areas, a library and a few restaurants you can take a break at. There are benches where you can sit and take in the view.

In the mornign we rafted the river and in the evening we road E-bikes along the trail to see where we had been and get a better idea of how the city and the river relate. It was beautiful in both its natural beauty and the man-made parks and trail along the banks of the river. We even came across a few deer!

We walked for miles along the Animas River Trail and then returned later in the day to watch the train coming back from Silverton. The trail is well paved, easy to do and has very attractive views of the river.

We parked a few blocks north of the town centre where we didn't have to worry about parking meters and took a very pleasant stroll into Durango.

When we stayed in Durango, the day didn't go by that I didn't walk some ways along the Animas River. The trail is excellent; easy to walk and unobstrusive. One evening we watched five deer fording the river.

We walked along this paved trail twice during our visit. It is great for strollers and young children to watch the river. There are multiple picnic locations and broader park spots for children to play along the way. All visitors to Durango do a lot of walking and this is a good way to accommodate young children at the same time. It is a very popular trail and extends far north of Downtown. It is free - the hardest part is finding a parking spot.

The tail through Durango along the Animas River is a must if you are in the area. Plenty of interesting historical markers along the way, and you can watch the rafters as they progress through town and the rapids south of town. We like to bike it so we can go the full length in 2-3 hours out and back.

We used this path several times during our one week stay. It parallels Main St & can be easily accessed from the downtown area. Much of the path has river views. The path also has oversized public art.
We were impressed with the areas cleanliness. We loved the artistic foot bridges that traverse the river.
A portion of this walk is by a Botanical Garden. Most of the plants were blooming. The flowers were gorgeous. Best of all, they were labeled so I could learn their names.

Very nice walking trail to get some exercise, fresh air and people watch. Very active place with walkers, joggers, cyclist and kayakers. Cool place.
