The mountain has a wide variety of trails and many are intermediate runs that flow through forest trails. The trail grooming is well done and the trails are well marked. On some days the lift lines are small and so the time of rest is on the lift enjoying the views. Then it is a blast coming down and flowing... More

While all of the other ski resorts did not have one run open Purgatory was up and running Nov 19th and the skiing was amazing. While there were only a few runs open they were well groomed and powder, no ice. As good of skiing as it gets. I do blue, no black, so can't speak for the everyday skier... More

My husband and I went up to this hotel for our Anniversary. So beautiful the trees were changing colors. The pool is outdoor but heated and there was a couple of hot tubs. One that was roof top. There is a lounge there called Purgys its really nice with a fire pit outside. There is also a pizza place a... More

This is a great place to enjoy the mountains and all the different scenery. It is about 25 miles from Durango.

Great walks and bike trails, watch a murrat or bird try to sneak some of your lunch if you sit in a field long enough. Some family and kids' activities are available too for burning off some of the little ones energy after acclimating to the altitude. See the Milky Way and various magnitude of stars in the evening. Occasionally,... More

Fun being had by all. The resort offers plenty to do on the plaza for all ages. If you are adventurous take on mountain biking or just hike the many trails. Perfect skiing in the winter especially staying at Edelweiss Condos.

Why does Durango Mountain Resort have a new name? Purgatory got a new owner, and high speed lift and expert ski terrain improvements over the past 1.5 years. Disclosure before reading why we love the mountain, we've owned private rentals by owner at Purg since 2008 when it was still Durango Mountain Resort. This is an unbiased opinion of why... More

Took the family to the resort to ride the slide and site see. Had fun although the attractions are a bit over priced. We still had fun. But it would have been nice to do more for the amount paid out.

We went to Purgatory hoping that we would be able to avail ourselves of the non-snow activities there. Alas, it was Wednesday and everything was closed tight. Even the places with "Open" signs were closed. So, I've been through Purgatory with nothing to show for it.
