About
Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art has relocated to a new golden building in Denver’s Golden Triangle Creative District. The museum’s new building offers visitors an enhanced experience with more display space while staying true to the salon style and intimate atmosphere for which the Kirkland is known. The museum’s three collections are: • International Decorative Art—A celebrated collection including notable examples of every major design period from Arts & Crafts to Postmodern. • Colorado & Regional Art—The largest repository of art showcasing the state and region’s talent, concentrating on the 1840s through the 1990s with about 7,000 works more than 700 artists. • Vance Kirkland Retrospective—Kirkland (1904–1981) is generally considered Colorado’s most distinguished modern painter. About 550 paintings and about 600 drawings and prints are held in his estate collection. Note: Due to the fragile nature of the collections children must be 13 or older to be admitted.

Kirkland Museum offers a wide variety of modern art peices. Many of the peices were actually painted by Kirkland who had an interesting point style. One of the most interesting things in the museum was his studio which had been moved here from it's original location. In order to do the Point style paintings, he laid in a sling hung over the canvas to create otherworldly painting.

In addition to his paintings, there was a good array of glass and pottery peices, furniture, and functional peices.

The museum, while relatively small, is well laid out.

For myself, I prefer more classical art, but for Modern art enthusiasts, it is a good place to visit.

This was one of our favorite art museum visits ever. What made it so special was the variety, with paintings, sculpture, multimedia, furniture, and even dinnerware, all of interest. Further, especially among the paintings, there was everything from traditional to postmodern, all wonderfully curated. Add to that being able to visit Kirkland's studio which was relocated intact to this site, and this was a 5+ star day.

Absolutely positively loved this place! We went to the DAM a couple days ago- very disappointing because everything was under construction. This amazing museum was a joy. So much to see and experience. The pairing of furniture, dishes, etc with art coupled with jazz music was awesome!

Was surprised to find out that architect was from Seattle because I really like the building. Loved Frank Lloyd Wright pieces as well as Ames pieces. Very nice gift shop.

Unexpected pleasure! Works by Vance Kirkland are amazing from his early days to funky later days. The best part was the ability to see his work studio. The museum is packed with other items, from paintings to chairs and can be a bit overwhelming at times.
I used the parking, cost was $6.00 for two hours, after two hours the price goes up. Would have been less expensive using the metered parking, $2.00 for 2 hours.
Coffee and sandwich shop a block or two away.
This museum is in the Golden Triangle and walking distance to the Denver Art Museum.
The gift shop was so-so.
Friendly staff.

This museum has artwork by Vance Kirkland, his studio, and a large collection of other art. We really enjoyed Kirkland's paintings. The other art was eclectic, including lots of local artists. Some of the rooms were so packed full of stuff on the walls, in cabinets, and on the floor that it was overwhelming. It is conveniently located near the Clyfford Still Museum and Denver Art Museum.

Ornate museum housing beautiful works of art and home decor. It was interesting to see how many of today’s furnishing are influenced by the furniture designs of the past.
