While I am not religious in any way, I am a big admirer of stained glass. It is definitely worth a trip to admire the architecture of the building and the great stained glass windows.

Walk up to it doors were locked. Alot of homeless people in the area, 2 of them walked up to me scary. Don't go alone especially women. The building from outside really didn't look like a church. The church has benches outside.

Oh my what an experience this was as part of our convention. The volunteers were so kind and helpful as they passed out bulletins and directed folks around the huge space. We found a pew near the front. the service was spectacular with incredible music and an inspiring sermon by Becca Stevens from Thistle Farms outside Nashville TN. The incense... More

A fine concert series here, first class & affordable (usually free will offering). Check website for schedule. Magnificent 4 manual Kimball organ, glorious stained glass windows and wood carving. Just across the street is their labyrinth. Staff & congregation are friendly & helpful. A most historic place for those interested in that. Spring 2016 will see an antiphonal organ finally... More

I found the Cathedral on the Worldwide Labyrinth locator. When I went to the office I was greeted warmly and on the way to the labyrinth across the street I was allowed to spend some time inside this numinous jewel box. The windows are among the finest I have seen and this treasure rivals the great medieval cathedrals of Europe.... More

This Episcopal cathedral offers visitors inspiring architecture & music, with friendly & intelligent programs. I happened to visit when kirkin' o' the tartans happened. Pipes & drums & pipe organ totally energized me. Must be some bit of Scot in me.

For an off-hours visit go to the visitor center south of the cathedral on Washington Street. Unlike the inside of the nearby Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (see other review), St. John’s has in interior that incorporates much more wood, especially in the altar area. This might remind you of the European gothic cathedral interiors. St. John’s had its... More

Our family started going to this quiet, contemplative service in 2008 and immediately felt like we had found a home. We felt under no pressure to do anything other than enjoy the service in the moment. The cathedral is beautifully candle-lit and the live music is evocative. Our young daughter has always felt loved and involved as well. This is... More
