It is a long drive. But a worthy one. Many trails and lakes. Should have spent more time there. Be careful of the wind and the storm.

Scary and fun drive up to Mount Evans. The road had its potjoles and things like that, but nothing worst than what I have to endure every day in Puerto Rico. Lots of wildlife up close and nice Visitors Center and small trails. Excellent place...More

I have done this drive many times , so many things to see and do. Check out the road up to summit lake one of the highest in US. Very close to Denver also,so you can visit Idaho Spring too or end up in Evergreen!

We didn't make it to the top of Mount Evans due to winter closure, but we enjoyed the drive and the numerous viewpoints and stops. Echo Lake is worth a good 30 minute stop. It's quiet and peaceful and if you find some sun, you...More

Mount Evans scenic Byway is beautiful day trip. Try to go during the week as weekends can get really busy up there. I-70 getting up there also gets bogged down on the weekends. Well worth the trip, better with less traffic.

This was a very pretty drive and a nice day trip. Recommended if you have time. Great view of Denver from the top. Check for snow before you go though.

Sorry for delay. 8 hours is plenty of time to get there but Mt. Evans road is closed in the winter. It opens again around June the date changes each year depending on snowfall.

The road is definitely not open to the summit. Not sure exactly how far up you can go right now though. You should be able to get to Echo Lake lodge and maybe summit lake. Stop in the visitors center in Idaho Springs and... More
