Drove over an hour and excited to go to Mt Evans today but unfortunately it still closed. The pics posted on here seems to be taken been hikers. Even though it was a disappointment but the drive from Denver was breath taking and beautiful. Echo lake right next to the bottom of Mt Evans was just beautiful.

We went to Idaho Springs first and stopped in the Historical Center there. They had a map for us to drive the Scenic Drive. We had stopped in Golden to get sandwiches for a picnic lunch, but noticed there was a Deli in Idaho Springs as well. We stopped at Echo lake - surrounded by snow - but found a... More

It is a beautiful view from the top. Great 360 degree view of the mountain range around Mount Evans. Take a jacket - it will be chilly. Parking is tight and is usually crowded.

Lovely drive, on a clear day of Colorado and surrounding area, and really worth a trip out. Truly panoromic views.

Mount Evans is a beautiful place to visit and view white mountain goats, big horn sheep, marmots, mountain flowers, and snow capped mountains. Dress warmly as it is usually chilly up there. Inquire to see if it is open because it closes because of snow and sometimes fog. One of my favorite places to visit and not too far from... More

Definitely worth seeing if you're in the Denver area and don't want to go to far out. The views are fantastic. It's hard to believe that you can go so high and see so much and only about 35 miles from Denver.

I have been to Mt. Evans quite a few times and my best advice to someone who has never been is make sure you take 3 things... your coat, a camera and water. No matter what time of the year, it's always chilly since you're at an elevation of over 14,200 ft. One can drive all the way to the... More

Great drive, not far from Denver. Excellent views and I've never been up it without seeing a herd of big horn sheep. Beautiful sight!

I took a drive to mount Evans which is usually closed until Labor Day, but the Drive is kind of scary if not used to narrow mountain roads. It is cold when you get all the way up and it can be windy, snowy and freezing. It offers great views, mountain views, cars and wild animals. It is amazing to... More

Bring your camera and comfortable hiking shoes. Linger and enjoy a great mountain close to Denver and the front range. Observe bighorn sheep, elk, snowcapped peaks and views.
