This was a super fun drive! Unfortunately, we did not know the last few miles to the top were closed after Labor Day. It was hot in Denver, but frigid up at summit lake! Make sure you bring many layers! Since we couldn't drive to...More

Whenever I have guests who are new to Colorado, this is one of the first things we do! Amazing opportunity and just an hour from Denver. Drive nearly to the top of a 14er, and probably see some wildlife along the way. (Only open between...More

It's a narrow road to the top. A good stop is Summit Lake. The parking lot at the top is very busy. Drive with care, mountain goats came right up to our car. (No, we did not entice them). Dress in layers. It was 93...More

Here's your chance to summit a Colorado "Fourteener" without ever leaving your car! On our last trip we started up with our grandkids on a beautiful day. We stopped twice on the way up, once to observe a small herd of mountain goats and once...More

Have to mark off this 14'er if you're visiting Denver, just make sure you've got a good driver. Roads are twisty and turny and very narrow. It's a beautiful scenic view and well worth the drive to the top. Mountain goats get so close you...More

We are so happy that we went on Labor Day as they closed the following day. The drive was incredible. Did have a little trouble with the altitude but a must see!

Stimulating climb for non climbers but definitely doable. More of a hike. Go for it. Not for the weak kneed. Easy, but crowded drive in the summer months. Watch out for altitude sickness if you are not from high altitudes. Drink tons of water. Not...More

So we tried to drive up here a few years ago... and I literally panicked once we passed the tree line and had my husband take me back down! (I am pretty fearful of heights) But this year, we took our teens, and I had...More

We drove up Mount Evans on a beautiful day in August, in a Mustang convertible, top down. It was just fantastic! What more can you expect from life? Whereas in Denver it was very hot it was near freezing in the parking lot at 14,240...More

The visitor's center and the summit parking lot are wheel chair friendly. There's no way to get to the very top however, except on foot.

You are at 14,000 + feet at the very top and it is more comfortable temperature wise. You can just go to Summit Lake and it is 11,000+ feet and see how you feel as well as the kiddo. The altitude does get to many people... More

It's not stroller friendly walking to the top. If you want to have stroller access, the lake just below the summit, where there is a scenic view, has a trail that can be walked with a stroller.
