There Were Some Bonuses to Our Visit
We visited on July 1, and I'm not sure if there any flowers not in bloom. The garden was full of colors, shapes, and forms. The "Bonuses:" (1) An exhibit of Ansel Adams' photographs. As I'm sitting here on my computer in our "playroom," I have on 3 of these walls a total of TWELVE Ansel Adams' photographs. Obviously, a favorite of mine. (2) There was a very interesting film about the Amache Natl. Historic Site, formerly known as the Granada (Colorado) Relocation Center. This was an internment "camp" for Japanese-Americans from 1942-1945. Having visited Manzanar in California, I was very interested in the subject matter of the film, which was very well done.

    One of the Best
I really enjoyed Denver's Botanic Gardens. They had plants from all different climates, an orangerie, a Japanese Garden, an interactive building for the kiddos, a bonsai area, a hothouse with orchids and other tropical items, and a large lily pool. There is also an informational center that had an exhibit of Ansel Adams photographs (the exhibits rotate, but I was lucky, since Adams is one of my favorites).

    Blossom of Lights
This was an absolutely gorgeous display of lights. Holiday music drifts in the air, lights seem to cover nearly every inch in different shapes and colors. It’s a one way path and you should amble at a leisurely pace as it’s just under a mile. I high recommend for any age.

No personal autonomy...we usually love the gardens...but this week it was very cold outside and when I came in they told me that we could not walk around on any of the outdoor paths. When I asked why...they said, "it is too cold."
I am from Russia and maybe I have a lower standard of cold, but I was insulted that THEY made the decision that it was too cold for ME to be outside. I had come prepared in my warm outside gear and was looking forward to enjoying the gardens with all the snow and frost. Everyone is so afraid now of anything that can be interpreted as extreme and are precluding me from making my own adult decisions.

To be fair...I only later saw the email they sent me about no outdoor access. It did not occur for me to check my email b/c I was going to an outdoor establishment and so therefore was prepared to be outside.

Of course, there was gorgeous fauna and beautiful buildings. I helped organize a wedding here and the staff was absolutely delightful. When we ran into an unexpected storm, they were readily accessible and prepared with a plan for safety.

A beautiful, serene oasis in the city. We spent what felt like minutes, but turned out to be hours here, excited to see each and every exhibit. My favorite is the Chilluly.

Beautiful gardens in Denver! If you have some time check them out. There’s and outdoor area and an indoor area with tropical plants and little amphibians

The Denver Botanic Gardens is a great place to visit near the Capitol Hill area of Denver. Admission is $15 and free for its members and members of its botanic garden partners.

The well planned Botanic Gardens has mainly paved pathways with signs and maps directing visitors to areas such as the greenhouse with tropical plants and trees, a cactus house and a geodesic dome housing a science exploration lab.

Even though it was late October, there were still flowers - roses, chrysanthemums, pansies and dahlias. Surprisingly, the Halloween pumpkins and decorations were being removed days before Halloween.

Lunch can be at two on-site restaurants. We ate at The Hive Garden Bistro (outdoor seating only) and shared a delicious vegetable sandwich ($14 + upcharge $2 for sweet potato fries).
