    Well woth a Visit
The Museum has excellent taxidermy dioramas, with more attention to the background than many other such displays. There is a pliosaurus skeleton hanging in the lobby. They have several programs in the Planetarium. I attended one narrated by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. They also have quite an extensive rock collection. If you head to the roof, you have wonderful views of downtown Denver and the Rockies beyond. It would have been nice to be there at a time when a million school group hadn't descended on the Museum. You couldn't get near the cafe and certain areas were extremely crowded.
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent visit. We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed our wildlife dioramas and Gems and Minerals exhibit! For folks looking to avoid crowds and school groups, we recommend visiting on Friday evenings, when the Museum is typically open until 9 PM. This is a great time to enjoy our exhibits in a quieter and calmer atmosphere. We hope to see you at the Museum again soon!

    Great museum!!!
We stopped here mainly for the dinosaurs, but were blown away with all of the other exhibits. It was easy to get to and the parking garage was great! It kept the car cool in the hot summer sun! The museum is welcoming and divided up well for exploring. We loved the animal halls and the dinosaurs, but we really loved the rock/gem area! The kids loved that it looked like an old mine. Be prepared on busy days to have this area take more time, though, because people were not moving at all in the gem room. We didn't see any of the movies so I cannot comment on that. Our kid's most favorite part was the "time traveler." They loved hearing the story of the constellation Capricorn and they remembered all of it and wanted to look up the others when we got home. Overall, it was a good place to visit on our trip to Denver. Kids are ages 16 and 9 and both enjoyed.
Thank you for taking the time to write about your Museum experience. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed visiting and we hope to see you again soon!

    Amazing Museum
This museum had a lot of different topics for everyone. My favorite section was the gem section which I didn’t expect to love so much! It features an actual cave that was extracted and displays REAL gems in the wall! The entire museum is so immersive and really puts you in the mindset in each section! It was by far one of my favorite museums that I’ve been too!!
Thank you for the appreciation! We hope to see you here again soon.

    Excellent Museum
I was a tourist visiting Denver, and I picked this as one of the places to visit while there. I’m very glad I did. This is an outstanding museum. I particularly enjoyed all of the dioramas. I learned a lot, and my only regret is that I ran out of time before seeing all of the exhibits. I highly recommend it.
Thank you for such a great review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed visiting, and hope you'll have the chance to come back and finish seeing all our exhibits soon.

    Family Friendly
This is a very nice museum, but really suited more for families. My husband and I enjoyed seeing the dinosaur bones, but could have skipped the rest. If you have kids, there are tons of interactive activities to keep them entertained. There are lots and lots of dioramas of stuffed wild animals and birds, and after the first 10 I was bored with them.
We are grateful that you took the time to leave us this review. We hope to see you again in the future!

    History
The museum requires a lot of walking, so be sure to wear shoes that are comfortable. We walked for three hours total, but we did some parts of it really quickly. There was a great deal to take in visually. I do believe that they have an excessive number of animal displays; they could definitely put some of that space to better use by displaying a wider variety of displays. The Space Odyssey exhibit was entertaining; nevertheless, I was disappointed that additional fees were required to experience the virtual reality component of the exhibit. This was the first time any of us had dealt with times tickets. In point of fact, everything ran really smoothly. The ticket lady simply scanned the we codes directly off my mobile phone, and immediately after that, we were allowed entry. It seems like there were a lot of people waiting to get in when we were leaving, so I would advise getting there as early in the morning as possible.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit and we hope you'll be back soon!

Must Visit: Dinosaurs, Ice Age Animals, Gemstone, Mummies - Has it all!
I think this is a must visit for visitors to Denver if you like nature and science. The museum tells the unique history of Denver through its native animals, flora and mining. And lots of Dinosaurs. I think it’s better than the NY Natural History Museum. This is a natural history museum, science museum and planetarium all in one place. What’s unique here is the mixing or nature and science in a lot of the exhibits. Location: Near a park close to Downtown. Plenty of free parking. Museum: Allow at least 2 hours to see everything. More time if you want to take in one of the 2 nature movies and/or 3 planetarium shows. Special Exhibition: Ice Ages is very well done and we learned that technically, we are currently living in an Ice Age (defined as when there is permanent ice on both poles). Climate change from human behavior is discussed in this context. Highlights: Dinosaurs and other fossils were extensive. Some of the largest dinosaurs and lots of mammals as well. Gemstones exhibit did an excellent job highlighting Colorado’s mining history, rooms look like inside of a mine. Lots of cool minerals. Lots of interactive consoles. Even the old fashioned dioramas somehow look good, and not dusty and dated like other natural history museums we’ve been too. There is also a small Egyptian exhibit with two mummies. We really enjoyed our visit as adults. Kids would go wild. Loved it and highly recommend.

    Always worth a visit
I go to the museum once or twice a month. A wonderful gem and mineral display. Fantastic prehistoric display. A small but nice permanent Egyptology displays great selection of animals in local setting dioramas. The restaurant is ok and not too overpriced. The minor thing that bothers me more than it should are the souvenir bottles for sale in the cafeteria. With the purchase you can get free refills at the fountain drink station... but the bottle doesn't fit under the fountain drink station. It's also metal and not insulated and is uncomfortable to hold with ice. And the lip is thin, almost sharp metal Go to the museum, just don't get the bottles
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and also for your support of the Museum! We're glad to hear that you enjoy our exhibits, and we have forwarded your comments about the reusable water bottles to our Food Services team for consideration. We hope to see you again soon!

Great place to spend your day
This was an amazing one for many reasons. One, the sections were good, well distributed and we even had an Egyptian Artifacts section. Two, the two shows (Additional) that I saw were amazing namely Cities of Future and Destination SOlar System. They are recommended. Three, the museum shop was good and had very good options. Four, they had a very nice food court to enjoy. Five, they had a workshop on for "how do they create replica of real artifacts" and preserve them forever. I could go on and on but its worth visiting. You would need >3 hours to cover all of it and in some cases >5 hours if you want to see everything in detail. Going early in the morning is recommended so you can cover as much before the school tours come in. Tickets are available online and there was some discount for off peak hours which is a bonus. Overall, Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this great review and for recommending us! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit and hope you will visit again if you get the chance.

    Great museum to visit!
We just visited this museum with our two teenage boys. We were worried it may be better for younger kids, but it was GREAT for all ages. It was so big, I think we need a second visit to finish seeing everything, but we really enjoyed our visit. I highly recommend visiting this museum if you are in the area.

We read some good things about this place and decided to visit. We were blown away by how well the exhibits are laid out. Yes, the museum is designed with a "kid vibe", but we are in our fifties and really enjoyed it. Many of the exhibits are interactive, and they are very informative. The place is HUGE, so it isn't overcrowded in the different exhibit halls. We went through the entire museum in about two hours, which was perfect for our day. If you go, be sure to go around to the park area behind the museum, where the views of the mountains are beautiful.

Kids had a blast! Definitely worth adding to the itinerary. We got into Colorado a couple days early and this was a great last minute activity. Very little wait and no need to may reservations weeks in advance.

Museum is fairly large, with distinguishable areas to see. Lesson learned on using the culture pass, you still have to wait in line to get a real ticket, which was a bit confusing and frustrating. Visited on a Saturday and it was abnormally busy according to some folks we overheard.

Hours of exhibits to wander, with at least 5 large permanent installations and 2 guest exhibits on the top floor. Perfectly suited for adults but geared towards children, and expect many young children and the noise and traffic that comes with on a weekend.

I went solo and really enjoyed the exhibits. However I kept thinking, I wish my kids were younger and here, as they’d have a blast.
Lots of hands on activities for littles. But even as an adult, wonderful exhibits and knowledge shared.
