The Trailhead Children's Museum is located in the Outpost Building next to the Mt. Crested Butte base area. Admission is $8.00 per person ages one and up. Great for all ages! We offer an engaging and dynamic environment that inspires children and families to explore, create and learn together through discovery and play. Kids love pretend play in the Farm to Table Pizza Kitchen and Restaurant, dressing up as a pirate or fairy, exploring color and light in the Dark Room, & finding their inner Picasso in the Art Bar. Dad's and kids alike get creative building large structures in the Blue Block Area and creating in the Lego Exhibit. At $* per person (adult or child), this left a lot to be desired. It is probably okay if kids went in a school group or otherwise with an educator, but just stopping in and letting a child wander from area to area is very expensive. This is at the bottom of my list for children's museums.

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry that our $8.00 admission fee wasn't what you were expecting. As a non-profit organization we do our best to make admission and program costs as affordable as possible. We work with our local libraries to offer a free pass to families, available to anyone once a month with a library card! We also... More

My grand daughter was here to visit for several days and we went to the Trailhead for one of the days. I knew about it from my contact with Melissa but had not been there. It was fabulous!!! I was blown away by not only the incredible options, but by the amount of thought and work that so obviously went... More

I would never advocate for taking kiddos indoors in such an outdoor paradise as Crested Butte. But during those everyday afternoon T-storms this is a great place to go.

After being cooped up inside our group of 5 kids 3-7 needed an escape. The museum kept them entertained and active for almost 3 hours. Options included pretend play, art, climbing structures, simple science and and a dark room with lights. $8 per person so it wasn't inexpensive but worth it.

My kids loved the summer camp program. They came back telling stories of science experiments and artists they learned about. One day the put paper under desks so they could paint the "ceiling" like Michelangelo did in the Sistine Chapel. The counselors were all teachers at various schools in the region. Plus, it's by far the best value for your... More

Such a great place for the kids any time of the year! Now you can enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Crested Butte, and come to the Trailhead for a different type of growing. They also have great drop off programs and classes for more attentive learning.

We are with a 5 & 7 year old who have been to places like this in locations across the globe, so they have caviar tastes : ). I expected to burn an hour, maybe 2, but 4 hours later, we had to haul them out of there. It's only 6 bucks and they encourage interaction with your kids. We... More
