This was a "business drive" for us to get to Gunnison. I think driving the black from Paonia to Gunnison is more stunning, but they are both wonderful drives.

This drive is wonderful with gorgeous aspens, an almost hidden cemetery, and beautiful Lake Irwin a few miles away. The summer flowers and fall colors are amazing!

We did this pass on the way from Aspen. We saw tons of wildflowers and not very many cars. Biggest vistas anywhere. Breathtaking scenery.

I wouldn't advise the road if it looks like rain, particularly during hail season. It requires patience when passing an on-coming car

Easy drive even if unpaved- and it does cut off a lot, of you are headed to glenwood springs from crested butte.

The drive takes you from one breathtaking view to the next with plenty of turn-outs so you can stop and take pictures. The wildflowers were plentiful and the road is safe with plenty of room for drivers and bikers.

We were seeking scenery and photo opportunities and were not disappointed. Aspen stands are amazing and peaks breathtaking.

County Route 12 is unpaved but very well suited for RV and travel trailers. Camping at Lake Irwin and Lost Lake is fantastic although no facilities, electric, water or sewage are available Absolutely beautiful and quiet camping

Dirt road though the mountains fantastic views and some of the best aspens during the color changes. Road can be muddy when wet. Closed in winter.
