This is not a paved road, but we did it in an infinity AWD- the road is rough and narrow, but the scenery is well worth it!

We attempted this route in winter going anticlockwise. We were amazed at the scenery but dared not go up the black pitch section even though we had a RAV4 and appropriate winter driving skills. The road was covered in snow and ice. At the black...More

This is a fantastic place to explore if you want to see old mining sites. Be sure to get a very inexpensive guidebook (pamphlet?) at the Creede Visitors' Center. These historic sites are vanshing quickly; the government is bulldozing them to make them "safe". Even...More

Be sure to read about the town of Bachelor before you go....there are still some old cabins but leave things where they are. Do not collect anything...there's amazing history up there. And the view is spectacular!!!

Bad roads, but pretty scenery so worth the trouble. Just go slowly if in a car or the oil pan will be damaged. Be prepared to squeeze past any oncoming vehicles, very narrow road.

Tons of mining and railroad history in this area. Fairly easy drive but a few spots on the Creede side that may seem steep to some. Keep a sharp eye around corners and when you are up the road a ways watch for animals in...More

Definitely recommend using the 504 and not the 503. We had no problem in a mini-van with lower clearance. Height of fall colors made this a breathtaking drive.

If you find your self any where near Creede you must get here and do this drive. The route circles around in the mountains behind the town. Very scenic. A must stop on the route is the Last Chance Mine. Great story and great people.

This is a delightful loop from Creede Many old mines that are accessible from the road. Plan on a few hours to fully enjoy the area.

Coming to Creede without making this drive should be a crime. You will not be disappointed. Allow yourself time for stops and photo taking along the way. Enjoy!
