There are many things to see and do on our mountain including experiencing spectacular views as you ascend to 14,115 feet, encounter Mother Nature on our hiking trails or watch for wildlife such as deer, elk, bighorn sheep or yellow-bellied marmots. You may even spot the elusive Bigfoot during your visit. The 19 mile journey on the fully paved road to the summit begins in Cascade, Colorado, just 15 minutes west of downtown Colorado Springs. From the entrance, at an altitude of 7,800 feet (2377m) begin to explore the Pike National Forest and the natural beauty of Colorado.Along the way, you'll discover the North Slope Recreation Area, Crystal Reservoir Gift Shop, Historic Glen Cove Inn, and the Summit House. There are three lakes for fishing, picnic areas, hiking trails, and breathtaking views. Stop and watch one of our "Meet the Ranger" Interpretive Programs and learn about the history, myths, flora and fauna on the mountain. All offer visitor services and basic necessities to make your day both enjoyable and memorable.

The drive up was enough to keep the boys talking about what they see, how far they could see, and the ever popular statement...look how high we are! Once on top, there was plenty of parking. There was a gift shop with restrooms. Our kids...More

I had a friend from New Zealand visit, and she did not make a reservation on the train to the top, but was told, OK, you have four minutes to make the train on standby, so run! So she did, and she made it. She...More

I fell in love with this mountain the first time I saw it in person. I had to go to the top. The view from there is something everyone should see! The western view is absolutely to die for!

Although several feet of snow lined the roads the top was clear. There were skiers and snowboarders and you can also take a train. Go early or late to avoid lines at entry gate.

Wonderful drive, hike, and summit. Lots of wild life, impressive sights, and unforgettable ride up the mountain. Huge temperature difference from base to summit. Wonderful lake at the base.

It was a fun trip to the top. There is a bigfoot sign at one of the pullover stops. There's a shop/cafe at the top which they will close if it gets too windy. Nice views of the area.

From the moment we met the ranger at the gate, he was so kind and helpful. It has snowed the night before so only the first ten miles were open but it was worth it! We will be back this summer!

We have done the cog train several times so decided it was time to drive up the Pike's Peak highway. On the day we chose, the park rangers, who are city of Colorado Springs employees, would only let cars go up to mile 16 due...More

Try Manitou Springs Adventures. They do Jeep tours of the peak. Getting to the summit is dependent upon how much snow is on the road, so you may not make it to the top. We have not had much snow this winter, but it does get... More

Early morning hours are best. clouds move in during the afternoon and the view isn't as good from the top. We like the drive because you can pull off and look around, explore.
