I visited the Air Force Academy to attend the retirement of Lt. Col. Jim Borders, a former student of mine at Penn State University. His retirement was held on the back side of the academy in a cadet lodge. To get to that location you drive by several facilities on the sprawling campus. I've been there before for leadership conferences,... More

The Air Force Academy is situated on simply gorgeous grounds with a stadium built partially in the mountain. Security can be tight for those without proper authorization to be on the grounds. This was a reunion visit since there are several airmen in our family. The facility is historical, well maintained and the Chapel is absolutely stunning. We happened upon... More

I spent 25 years in the US Air Force, but had never been to the Air Force Academy. It was on my bucket list. The Academy is a gorgeous place. I took many photographs of the grounds, the chapel, and the sports facilities. It is worth a visit.

Number 1, remember to use the North entrance as the South entrance is restricted and at the time of my visit, freeway signs did not give this information. The highlight is the chapel both grand and beautiful. There is someone stationed in there whose job is probably security but is more than willing to help take pictures. The tour is... More

I have never seen or been on a campus that is this nice. The place is 1st class all the way. You enjoy and appreciated the pure beauty and true meaning behind the Air Force Academy. It is 100% must visit when you are in the area. It is free so there is no reason why you should not visit.

We liked the trip with the museum and church very much. The church has a very special cross. My wife and me enjoyed all the wonderful things we saw.

If you can get on base, go to the bowling alley for lunch and try it. I know this sounds silly but the food is GOOD for a casual lunch! My husband and I order either the hamburger or the cheese sandwiches with tomatoes grilled in the cheese sandwich and the fries which are served piping hot and crisp. You... More

Wonderful place to explore. There is a B-52 to get up close and see. There is a beautiful chapel. If you like to camp, this is an inexpensive place to set up your tent.
