Overview
More
The museum is open to the public even though the museum is on an active Air Force installation. All that is required is for non-military ID card holders and groups to call us or submit a request on our web site a minimum of one day in advance of your visit (before noon MDT) to arrange for a pass and detailed instructions. A State or federal issued Photo ID is required for all Non-DoD visitors over 18. Drivers will need to have proof of insurance and registration for their vehicles. The Museum preserves and portrays the rich aviation and space history of Colorado Springs and Peterson Air Force Base. From our barnstormer beginnings in the Roaring Twenties, through the daring exploits of our World War II pilots and into the modern space era, our exhibits are sure to capture your attention.

We really enjoyed the docent lead tours in the hangar and in the plane itself. My husband is retired Army so it was great to hear him talk about the interactions he had with some of the equipment on display!

We are military so we did not have to go through the visitors center to get a pass. We drove right onto the base to the Museum. Our docent Kay was so knowledgeable and friendly. If you love military history and/or planes- make a stop....More

Nice museum with great docents. Loved touring the EC-121, the Connie. I liked the short movie that told about the base and the aircraft at the museum. Best of all, it’s free.

This museum has a lot of static displays, old airplanes and moments from space. Veterans will give you a guided tour. Hard to believe there is no charge to tour.

Great for kids of all ages. My granddaughter loved it because of a plane named Connie, her name. Peterson however, is a closed base. To see the museum you have to have a valid military ID card to get onto the base, or if you...More

I believe it was closed. I could not find the entrance. So I just took pictures. I decided to just take pictures of surrounding area, because we were headed for Pikes Peak

This is located on Peterson Air Force Base. The visitors center is the old Colorado Aprings airport terminal. The aircraft and misses are worth seeing!
