Loved it!
Aug 2021 • Friends
This was so cool! The very beginning was a butt kicker, but after that flat and gorgeous views! The tunnels and lookouts were beautiful. Family loved it!

Outstanding trail along the gorge
Aug 2021
Gorgeous trail along the Royal Gorge. Bonus is that we were able to see our kids on their white water rafting trip from the trail and get some pictures.

Hidden Gem

This one is not on the main path, look for this one for sure and don't miss it. A short (but steep) hike and the views and experience is well worth it. We found it late one day and loved it so much we went back early the next day to walk it all.

Great easy hike.
Aug 2021 • Family
This was a great easy hike with fantastic views. Wide flat trail about 3 miles roundtrip. The three tunnels are within the first 1/4 mile.

better than the bridge and free
Jul 2021
I've been to the touristy royal bridge which is beautiful, but this is so much more! We passed only one family. We had fun taking pics in the tunnels. beautiful scenery w/out the people. we did this after rafting the royal gorge. Our guide called it a lazy walk by the river, and kind of made me not want to go, so glad I decided to do it. definitely hot, not a lot of shade, bring water!

Wildlife

We were told that we would likely see bighorn sheep and were not disappointed. Great little hike. Didn’t have to hike all that far to see wildlife. Easy walking as well.

"Easy" trail with lots to explore
Mar 2021 • Family
Visited with 2 adults and 1 child age 12. Weather was gorgeous, we got lucky. The trail is said to be "easy" and overall is... that 1st incline was harder for me, someone who is out of shape and not from Colorado. After that though it was good, nice trail to walk and we took an easy pace. Saw the 3 tunnels and at about 3/4 mile we turned around. It was very cool to see in person. Free. There was a lot of dog poop every where...shame. There is an outhouse at the start of the trail.
We had fun, would highly recommend if you're looking for something easy and outside.

Really Nice Walking Path
Sep 2020
My husband and I happened to find the trailhead for this path by accident while checking out Canon City on a recent visit, and the next morning, we decided to start our day out by walking part of it. The path itself takes you through (at minimum) three tunnels (we only walked a couple miles), and the path winds through the valley along the Arkansas River. We also had a beautiful morning, which made it even better. But this was a really pretty, quiet way to get our day started off the right way. :)

Fantastic family friendly trail
Aug 2020
We got our morning wiggles out by walking the 4 mile total length. Wide trail and well maintained. Incline at the beginning but the rest is flat. Went through 3 short tunnels at the beginning of the trail. My boys loved throwing rocks in the river. Climbing the rocks and waving at the people on the train and on the rafts.
