It's a scenic drive and great hiking trails too. Take a few hours to enjoy. Beautiful area. Can get busy near the Chataqua park on weekends.

The majesty of the Flatirons is even better up close. There are great hiking paths. Boulder is working hard to provide more parking.

Nearby parking at the park. Wide gentle path (class one) with scenic views along the path. The ranger station is at the base near the trailhead.

The famous Flatirons of Boulder was visible from a far distance when we were on Route 36 driving to Boulder. The large, flat panels of rocks were majestic and impressive. We pulled into the parking lot of the Chautauqua Park trying to get some good picture shots of the Flatirons but the parking lot was completely full. It was a... More

If you are new to the Boulder area, take note: the weather not only changes dramatically from day to day, but from hour to hour. I started this hike with a wind-breaking, fleece-lined jacket, wool fleece, long paints, and hiking shoes. The start of the trail is in meadows, with full sun exposure, so with the steady incline of the... More

This was our first thing we did when we got to Boulder. The park was very busy, weather was beautiful. They are currently do some work on the trail but you can still access. The park is absolutely beautiful. They even had someone at the base to answer questions and was very helpful. If you enjoy the great outdoors this... More

Boulder = Flatirons. Flatirons = Boulder. You haven't been to Boulder if you haven't gone up to Chautauqua Park to see the Flatirons. Really.

No matter the season...my favorite: when the Flats are just dusting with snow as if coasted with powdered sugar. Lots of hiking/walking trails along the base (average hikes) and Green Mountain gives you access for hiking behind them (fairly active hike).
