Not too technical-took us about 2.5 hours up and back including waiting for traffic. It's not easy but I never thought I was going to fall and plummet 1000 feet. Great views, well worth it.

It took us (group of four women) less than 2 hours to complete this hike (up and back). It is tough. Lots of rocks to climb and some difficulty areas to navigate, both up and down. But we loved it! Highly recommend. Parking lot has...More

The Royal Arch hike is a tough hike. This hike pulls no punches. It begins on the Chautauqua Trail with a quick elevation gain on a nice, and newly, paved path. [Bit of Advice] Look for the Bluebell Mesa Trail entrance right off the Chautauqua...More

We attempted to hike this trail on a sunny warm afternoon. The trails were challenging because of the many rocky trails but the trip up to the arch was worth the effort.

It had a "stairmaster" set of rock step stairs near the top that are challenging. A group was running down the trail as we were climbing up. Definitely wear good supportive hiking shoes. Rewarding rock formations and view at the top. Good quick hike. Takes...More

I heard mixed reviews on this hike but am so glad we chose to do it. We went early (on the trail by 8:30am on a Saturday) and I'm so glad we did. There were a LOT of people on their way up when we...More

This is a great hike. It's a bit strenuous with lots of ups and downs along the trail. Our kids are 8, 9 and 10 and did good on the hike although our friends who lived there said it is probably meant more for teens....More

A very good, fun hike! The round trip is about 3.4 miles, with an elevation gain of about 1600 feet, which makes it quite steep. Carry sufficient amount of water, especially in the summer, and some food/refreshments in case you feel tired because of the...More

Royal Arch is an amazing day hiking trail and a must do when visiting Boulder. It's literally five minutes out of town so you don't even have to drive far to get there. Such a amazing feeling when you get to the top! Highly recommended

Hiked this with 18 year old daughter. Took us about 2 hours. Some very steep and rocky inclines and the payoff at the top is incredible. There may be a better hike or two if you venture further out, like Walker Ranch, but this one...More

Hi Kevin, I usually plan on 90 minutes to 2 hours; depending on how long I want to linger up there or if I plan lunch or a snack. Enjoy!
