Being a first-time visitor to Yucca Valley, stopped in at the California Welcome Center to obtain a map of the area, and information on local attractions. My travel guidebook is slightly outdated, hence the need for more accurate and current information. Hundreds of brochures are available not only for the local area but for other locations throughout California. The exceedingly pleasant young lady (with a big smile) at the counter provided me with several brochures on attractions in Landers, Pioneertown, 29 Palms and Yucca Valley. She also was able to present information on local eatery and camping locations around the area. Extremely useful and helpful information. Thank you for you great assistance, and your information was put to effective usage over the next two days during my “Explore Southern California Expedition”. Located within the Welcoming Center, you will find a gift shop with a wide range of souvenirs (tee shirts, clothing, and about anything you can imagine). This helpful California Welcome Center is open seven days a week and has a huge parking lot that can accommodate any type of vehicle. If you are a lost tourist or just looking for information this facility will go out of their way to assist you.

The visitor center has a short video and a short outside hike around the oasis. Good as it is, the park is even better, yielding both short and long hiking opportunities. We even saw rock climbers. The Joshua Trees are fascinating.

We stopped in to get a few ideas of what to see and do while in Yucca Valley, and the welcome was fantastic! We were shown throughout the center, to special exhibits, long-terms visit possibilities, and items to consider buying. The stop definitely helped to direct our touring for the next several days!

Fabulous art show last weekend outside at the Welcome Center as well as food venders and a DJ. Inside the Welcome Center more art and cool gifts. Informative, knowledgeable staff and the decor was awesome... go visit! If you live here you’ll discover places you’ve probably never been to. AND it’s a must for visitors to our area.

The people that work here are knowledgable and helpful. There is a wealth of local info. There are some exhibits and the gift shop is surprisingly good. They stock some good items, better than other souvenir shops in the area.
