Neighbourhood: West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.

Such a great night out and would definitely go again. I’ve been a few times when in LA and each time it gets better. There’s seats to sit and socialise or great shows to watch and dance in the huge dance floor. Very good prices for West Hollywood.

We felt quite out of place being the only obvious husband/wife couple in the place, but the service was great and the nachos and desserts were awesome.

Had to go and sit beneath the portrait of Elizabeth Taylor in one of LA's classic gay bars. The place has a friendly ambience and has both indoor and outdoor spaces for drinks and food. Service was very good, the food was good, but the drinks were amazing. I ordered a New York Appletini and watched as the bar tender put it together in about 30 seconds. Ms Taylor and I were very impressed.

I used to live 5 blocks away from The Abbey and was a frequent patron from 2008-2013. I went back recently and it was clear that it had become nothing more than a pit stop on the TMZ Hollywood Bus Tour. It is now all 23-year-old tourists from near and far hoping to get a snap of a reality TV performer and crowds of loud, annoying bachelorette parties and "girls night out crowds" vomiting in the bathroom after a few too many vodka crans.

From the beginning, the Abbey was THE fun local gay neighborhood hangout and then as it became popular, it became the LA Metro and beyond gay neighborhood hangout. The crowd was interesting and fun and it had a certain energy.

Now it's all about 23 year old tourists taking selfies, vomiting and on the hunt for sightings of Lisa Van der Pump. No thanks - I'll pass.

Beyond that, the drinks are super pricey and the bartenders too self-important to give a sh*t about serving you quickly unless you are a hottie.

Had a great time at the Abbey, it was very busy but staff and service good, hot dancers on poles, lots of nice things to look at, bar staff very fast to serve us and drinks not expensive, the music was also really good, been coming here many times and we always have a great night. Only downsides were 20 mins wait to toilet, and a grandad troll with his rent by the private fireplace, shoving people around, but other than that, surrounded by people having an amazing time and danced all night, thank you
