The red building auto forecourt has a stunning modern light sculpture hanging in the center. Hidden from view unless you walk (or drive to let someone off) into the building entrance. Worth seeing. Well-done. A surprise indeed.

The outside of the building is stunning in shape, texture and colour. Inside the surfaces gleam. We only saw a handful of other visitors as we stolled around the various displays. After the tackiness of Hollywood Blvd which had been our last point of call, this was a delight to the senses.

I love this BlueWhale! As a designer living in Asia, it gives me a chance to see all of the latest fabrics, furnishings, lighting and accessories and bring me back into the design world.

I had always wanted to visit the Design Center. We went on a Saturday night for an awards celebration. All the stores were closed but we were able to walk around and window shop. The place is huge. The outside area was beautiful at night with the buildings and palms lit up.

Pacific Design Center is for interior decorators, all done well. I would recommend grabbing a coffee out front. Place has a lot of square footage on 5 floors. 1st and 3rd floor have the most shops.

If you like to window shop. Look at things you will never be able to afford. If you have been to IKEA one too many times, and have gotten bored of their selection come here. P.S the cafe out front is BOMB!

The place has a feeling of being about 1/3 full. There are several very high-end showrooms with beautiful furniture, appliances and design. Also a very good Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The building itself is rather striking, but also disorienting with miserable way finding.

The pacific design centre is something of a let down, being more like an oversized furniture store. Great though if you like exotic furniture.

Well worth time and would have spent more if we had it. Many floors are empty which makes you wonder.

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
