A decent size of botanical garden for a half day trip. Recognizing that the place is run entirely by volunteers, it's good but need some work. Many plants do not have name plates. Lots of plants growing in locations where they are not wanted, but seem healthy so they probably have not removed them to prevent erosion or just keep something green in the space.

Went to check this place out as the reviews indicated it was good. Nice for hiking in a secure area with multiple elevation changes and restrooms. Dogs allowed, and there were piles of poop everywhere. Nice trees/plants/ideas for home landscaping.

This is a must to see when in Vista. The grounds are stunning with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sounds and sights of nature. The views are amazing as the gardens sit atop a hill. You will not be disappointed. Bring a snack or lunch as there are plenty of places to enjoy it. They also have public restrooms.

We went to visit the garden after we saw different reviews from people that have visited the garden and said nice things about it. Overall we find the garden not too enjoyable as the different paths are really not well maintained. Only the entrance had different sculptures and very unusual pieces created by an artist that does the same sculpture we saw in the dessert around San Diego. The entrance fee is very affodable but we only stayed a short while.

This garden is Vista’s secret! Located at the top of the hill in Brengle Terrace Park, this garden is full of fun and beauty for all ages! It has a newly added Discovery Trail where children of all ages can learn about plant life! The entry fee is only $5 and it is definitely worth it!

I went to the Alta Vista Gardens with my granddaughters girl scout troop. I live less than a mile from the gardens, yet I had never been there. I was totally shocked by it's beauty, the views & the interactive aspects. Great place to go for peaceful reflection or to let the kids learn about their environment.

Wow! This is a true hidden jewel. It's apparently operated solely by volunteers, and the entry fee is a mere $5 for adults, less for children. The 18 acres it encompasses are expertly laid out to maximize a variety of environments for various plants from all over the world. And there are lots of attractions -- such as dinosaurs -- for the kids. We all went away saying it was a real value and a wonderful experience.

Overall this park laid out very nicely and allows for leisurely walk on well maintained trails. It is on a hill so you will be walking up and down (very gradual) but was not an issue. My favorite part was the musical instrument which utilizes pea gravel to make a sound. Nice assortment of plants and sculptures but not a lot of variety. Several seasonal activities so if in the area check it out.

You will be truly sorry if you miss a visit to these breathtaking botanical gardens and parks! Situated atop a hill in the foothill-esque town of Vista are acres and acres of manicured gardens for self-touring. Entertwining paths lead you from one garden to the next in a serene and tranquil setting. The Culinary Garden is one of my favorites! A clubhouse and lawns are available for functions. It would be a beautiful setting for a sunset wedding. I make sure to visit every time I'm in the area - you should too!

Beautiful park, fun sculptures, nice pond with turtles. Great venue for outdoor party or wedding. One area is set up for kids to play & learn. Special place!
