The Pinnacles is well worth the 9 miles of dirt road to get out to them. The road may be closed after a heavy rain though. There are some sigh boards along the way out to the Pinnacles explaining how they were created and the history of them. We did a loop drive around the pinnacles that was very interesting.... More

The place is fascinating, especially when you start locating where various movies and TV shows were filmed - like Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Battlestar Galactica, and Planet of the Apes. The drive is about 5 miles over a road that anyone can make if you don't try and hot rod it. Once there, there are lots of Pinnacles... More

We drove by this signpost so many times, and finally we went. After a few days of rain the 5.5 mile dirt road was rutted and full of puddles, but we were able to take our Honda Civic all the way. As you get closer the landscape completely changes as these "pinnacles" come into view. There are explanatory signs and... More

Out of the ordinary and interesting landscapes. Could spend from a few minutes to hours looking around and climbing in area. Only drawback is the 5 miles of dirt ( or should I say rock!) road into area. OK in our truck but probably quite difficult in a regular car. Otherwise would have given it an excellent.

Just ten minutes drive off Trona Rd. brings you to one of the film locations for the TV shows Star Trek, Lost In Space and movies like Planet of the Apes. Best way to see it is by mountain bike from October through the end of May. Bring your own food and water and stay on the road. If you... More

Wing Commander flew in for the road trip to Death Valley. Trona Road, the Pinnacles and hello for a burg in town ... all good bye. We loved the drive.

We drove our RV (24') pulling our Jeep. The road is a tough one (either from the south or north) for about 5 miles. We were happy to have the Jeep for exploration. Yes, it's a special place, alien in many ways. The sunset was amazing. We stayed one night. It's also isolated, dry, rutted and washboard roads, and tons... More

I know many films were located here. The Pinnacles have been a great resource for photographers, as I've take some of my best rain-storm & Lightning photographs here. It is other-worldly and seems you are on the moon.

Situated five miles off the highway, the drive to the pinnacles is on a gravel road which most cars should cope with unless they are too sporty and perhaps have some clearance issues. Plenty of visitor boards and even a toilet at the pinnacles! Really good access and opportunity to walk around the whole site. Inspiring place and well worth... More

This free attraction is worth the time if in the area. Basically, interesting stacked mineral deposits from a 640'deep lake (now dry) from millenniums ago, up to 140' tall. Looks like you're on a different planet. A number of Hollywood films shot there. Very hot desert location, about 5 miles off the paved road. The gravel road is very bumpy... More
