Rotta used to have great service and knowledgeable staff. Liked the wine enough to join their wine club. But in the past year, maybe two, the wine has lost some of it's luster, and every time I visit the tasting room, the staff act as if my presence is putting them out. I don't mean when it's crowded, either. Just me and the pourer, who lately has been a rotating stream of bored people. I attended a wine club event in March that was poorly executed for the price paid (Where do we go? Do we sign in? Where do we get those raffle tickets? Why aren't there enough chairs for an event we had to buy tickets and RSVP to, so theoretically you should know how many folks are coming? Why did you say you are offering dinner if, in reality, it is teeny tiny taster portions, like three crackers on a plate?)
I used to thoroughly enjoy Rotta wine and my experiences in the tasting room, but now I like neither. I have withdrawn from wine club.

Rotta used to be one of our favorites to visit. But after the past experience I had with their wine club service, I can’t recommend them any longer.
No one ever answers the phone or responds to messages by phone or email. We were members of their wine club for a couple years. After moving, we tried several times over two weeks to contact someone about our next shipment. The phone is almost never answered during their business hours. When someone did answer the phone, all they did was take our name and number and offered to have the wine club manager call back. This happened a couple times but mostly the phone rings, no answer, and all I could do was leave a message.
After two weeks of trying to cancel the shipment, and even messaging/commenting on their Facebook, my card was charged and the wine was shipped (to an address we don’t live at). Two days later, Mauricio, the wine club manager, finally emailed (not a return phone call) to tell us it was too late.
Once I finally spoke to Mauricio over the phone, he could only offer an insincere apology and the excuse that “we are only able to respond so quickly.” It has been TWO WEEKS! I can’t imagine that this small winery is so inundated with calls and emails that it takes two weeks to respond to one message. Poor excuse for even poorer customer service. I didn’t want to leave the wine club, just change my address but I can’t stick with a company that treats “members” like this. Now I’m waiting for my refund, and have left the wine club, or at least I hope so!

This was a great stop for wine. It is off the hwy 46 and was very lovely. We did a full tasting and enjoyed our time visiting with Justin and Jose. Became wine club members with their dessert/ specialty wines. This is one of the oldest wineyards in Paso.

This is such a lovely vineyard - we were the only people there all afternoon and couldn't understand why it wasn't busier! Sarah was so friendly and informative, she told us much more about the wine than anywhere else we had been and let us walk up the hill to throw of the vineyard to pick some grapes to taste with her. The tasting was also great; there was a wide selection of wines to try - rose, white, red and sweet - and all were delicious. There are seats outside to enjoy the wine or you can sit in the bar. The wine club manager Mauricio was also really helpful and informative and came to talk with us at the end of his shift. Can't recommend this place enough - we had it all to ourselves and real star treatment.

An original winery of Templeton CA. The spirit of Mama Rotta lives on in the wines and atmosphere of this tucked away treasure for visitors seeking a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere for enjoying an afternoon with friends. The patio overlooks an old growth vineyard while inside, Sarah will greet you and indulge your palate with crisp and refreshing white wines. The reds and dessert wines are intriguing. You won’t regret searching out this hidden gem!

Have three kids (6,4 and 1) isn't ideal on a wine tasting trip. But Rotta had street crayons that held them busy for the 30 min session, perfect! Bought the expensive dessert wine that just perfect. Nice experience, and nice servants.

In 8 years there has been little change here. The wines are good, the server knowledgeable and we met the assistant winemaker at the tasting room bar. Both gave us trips on cooking with the fabulous Black Manuka wine! A good time! One of the few places who dry farm their wine!!

My partner fell in love with their port wine. All their other selections we great too but the favorite was the Black Minnuka dessert wine.

This was the third winery we hit and the last wine we had here was my favorite of the day (I believe it was the port). The staff was nice and attentive. I'd highly recommend visiting.

First time here and they were very welcoming. The wine was great and the staff knowledgeable. There is a long and interesting history. They offer barrel tasting but you need to set up ahead of time. Definitely look into that if it is of interest. The winemaker sounds very interesting.
